About
A Classic Cantonese Roast in Honolulu
Tucked away from the typical tourist crowds of Waikiki, Peking Duck Kitchen offers a focused menu that prioritizes the time-honored tradition of Cantonese roasting. If you find yourself craving authentic, crispy-skinned poultry in Honolulu, this is the destination where the focus remains strictly on the craft of the roast.
The Signature Experience
The star of the show here is the Peking duck, prepared with the characteristic amber-hued, shatteringly crisp skin that yields to succulent, tender meat. Unlike modern fusion establishments, the kitchen sticks to a traditional preparation style that pairs perfectly with soft, pillowy steamed buns and a savory, house-made hoisin sauce. You will notice the rich, fatty aroma of roasted duck greeting you the moment you walk through the door, a scent that defines the no-frills, utilitarian atmosphere of the dining room.
Local Dining Nuances
The setting is modest and straightforward, making it an ideal spot for a quick, flavor-packed lunch or a casual weeknight dinner when the priority is purely the food rather than a white-tablecloth experience. Be aware that the space is compact, and during peak dinner hours, the lively, bustling noise levels reflect its popularity with local families looking for a reliable, savory meal. Parking in this part of Honolulu can be a bit of a challenge, so factor in a few extra minutes to navigate the nearby street parking before settling in to enjoy your meal.

We dropped in for our normal Valentine’s Day Take Out Dinner. Food is delicious, stay away from the crowds and pay for a meal that isn’t commercial holiday marked up ;-). The order: Crispy Gau Gee (1 order - 8 pieces). Always so crunchy with that umami blast of pork hash inside. We always ask for that ooeeeyyy gooeeey yummy orange sweet sour sauce. Beef with Black Bean Sauce comes with green bell peppers and onions. One of my favorite dishes. The soft succulent beef in the umami & sweet black bean sauce mixed in with the nice crunch of the onions and bell peppers bite. Makes for my yummy tummy delight. Dinner Plate that’s served with sweet sour spare ribs (son sons favorite), beef broccoli (to get some veg), cold ginger chicken (tonight we subbed this for brow kau yuk), char siu fried rice, and crispy won tons (more crunch with a tiny dot of meat). Their fried rice is on point and packed with flavor. We always ordered the beef broccoli on the side to keep the sauce separate from being all over the fried rice. It’s a ton of good for great value. Typically one plate can feed our lil fam of 3. We are regulars here. The food is always delicious and take is always ready in our 10 minute drive from home.

Food came fresh. Well made and well seasoned. Huge portion for the price. Duck was delicious — crispy skin and juicy meat, no gamey smell. Crispy wonton was great. Sweet and sour pork was really sweet but addicting. Definitely will come back.
