Panda Express - Honolulu (Keahole St)
About
Fast-Casual Flavors in Hawaii Kai
Located right in the heart of Hawaii Kai, this outpost of Panda Express offers a reliable pitstop for those craving American-Chinese staples. Whether you are coming off a hike at Koko Head or finishing a shopping trip at the nearby commercial centers, the smell of sizzling ginger and caramelized sugar greets you the moment you walk through the doors.
Signature Wok-Fired Classics
The menu remains anchored by the iconic Orange Chicken—crispy, bite-sized poultry tossed in a signature sweet and tangy glaze that has defined the brand's legacy for decades. For those seeking a bit of heat, the Kung Pao Chicken brings a familiar crunch of peanuts and a subtle chili kick. The kitchen staff keeps the woks moving constantly, ensuring that the vegetable stir-frys maintain a crisp texture rather than succumbing to the sogginess often found in fast-service setups.
A Local Pitstop
This spot is ideal for families or solo diners looking for a quick lunch or a stress-free dinner to grab on the way home. The seating area is functional and bright, though it can get surprisingly buzzy during the peak lunch hour when nearby office workers and students filter in. Be prepared for the communal feel of the space; it is a high-traffic area, meaning you might find yourself navigating a short queue or finding that parking in the crowded lot requires a bit of patience. Despite the pace, it remains a go-to for consistent flavors that hit the spot without the formality of a sit-down restaurant in East Honolulu.

My big complaint is that I ordered the new buldak chicken and I found online that I was supposed to get a sauce packet with it. I also asked for the eggplant and tofu with only eggplant because the panda express in town does that and they said they don’t. Not great service. I would suggest going to the panda in town rather than this location!

Overall they are well stocked and rarely have to wait for our selections. Food is usually hot and tasty. Portions are generous. (For the past couple of visits, the fried rice grains have been hard, though). Staff are welcoming and friendly (Jaxtin was awesome on our visit!).

Awesome food at a great price. Lots of indoor seating. Service was a little off and slow but still good!

Terrible online ordering experience. Ordered at 6:05. Scheduled pickup for 6:40. Arrived at 6:35. Didn’t even start the order at 6:55. Customers who walked in at 6:35 behind us got their order & left. Took them another 7 minutes to figure out how to cancel & refund. There were another 7 people behind us waiting for their online order too. Won’t ever come here on a Friday or Saturday night again.

One of the best and cleanest Panda Express locations! The staff are hardworking, polite, and create a welcoming atmosphere. I would have given them 5 stars if not for the fact that they sometimes combine leftover food trays with fresh ones. Having hard, dry rice on my plate is definitely unacceptable!

I’ve been a loyal customer for years, regularly ordering takeout from this location, but after today, I won’t be coming back—nor to any other Panda Express. When I arrived to pick up my order, the staff claimed I hadn’t paid for a bag, even though the app doesn’t even provide that option. Instead of handling the situation politely, they were extremely rude and dismissive. If you expect customers to pay for a bag, at least make it an option in the app. Terrible customer service and a complete disappointment.

The food is always fresh, hot and they have a great selection. Sadly they only get 3 stars today because I just found out they discontinued the Hot and Sour soup!!! Oh the humanity of it all! I don't think I can ever go back now. It was the most delicious, tasteful, harmony of tofu, mushrooms, egg drop, and other ingredients combined to make it amazing! It's gone forever! My life will never be the same.

I enjoy visiting Panda express and was in the mood for a big meal after a busy morning, but I have to be honest with this review: the food during my visit was very disappointing. I ordered the Plate meal which comes with 1 side - I chose the chow mein, and 2 entrees - I chose orange chicken and a honey chicken dish (I can't remember the exact name). All of the food that I had really lacked flavour and was very bland, which was not what I was expecting. Perhaps the food had been sitting out for some time but the sauce over the chicken dishes just had no flavour at all, not even the honey chicken which I would have thought would have some sweet flavour. Same for the chow mein, it needed more soy sauce or something to give it some flavour. To give credit where it is due, the staff were very friendly and I noticed that they were proactive at cleaning the restaurant so an extra star for that. I'd love to re-review and hopefully get them on a good day or when the food is fresh.

The staff’s service was exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and efficient. While I was dining in I witnessed a diner who was being extremely rude and unreasonable. She wanted a small portion of stir fry broccoli without the other vegetables. The staff was accommodating and had the cook make it for her right away. She took a few bites and complained that it was too hard. The staff immediately notified the cook and he was going to cook it more for her. Within a minute, she started raising her voice, complaining that it was taking too long and she wanted her money back. Every staff that dealt with her was so nice- honestly, they had every right to tell her to get lost. It was frustrating to watch what they had to put up with, but they did it gracefully. I hope they see this and know they are appreciated! The food was also good! What I would expect from a fast food Chinese joint.

Panda Express as a chain of restaurants does not disappoint. The food is good with a variety of selections. This Panda Express in Hawaii Kai is always crowded. The staff is welcoming and helpful (also quick to move people along). The restaurant is an open layout with high tables to eat. It is designed for the quick eat.
