About
A Kaimuki Local Staple
Located right on the bustling Waialae Avenue corridor in the heart of Kaimuki, Oahu Mexican Grill (OMG) serves as a casual refuge for those craving bold, sun-drenched flavors amidst Honolulu’s urban sprawl. It is the kind of place where you stop in with sandy feet after a morning surf session or grab a quick, hearty lunch during a busy work week.
The Flavor Profile
The kitchen leans into hearty, satisfying portions that define the local comfort food scene. Signature offerings include their massive burritos and street-style tacos, often stuffed with tender carne asada or seasoned pork. The scent of charred tortillas and house-made salsas hits you the moment you cross the threshold. While the seating area is efficient and geared toward a fast-paced turnover, the food remains the clear priority, packing enough heat and spice to please the local crowd.
The Kaimuki Vibe
Expect a no-frills, high-energy environment. It is loud, vibrant, and moves at the speed of Honolulu traffic. A quick tip for newcomers: the parking behind the building can be a bit of a tight squeeze, so take your time maneuvering or find a street spot nearby. Whether you are heading into town or returning home to East Honolulu, this spot offers a reliable, unpretentious stop for anyone seeking a quick fix of Mexican-inspired classics without the fuss of white-tablecloth service.

Wonderful! Fresh ingredients! Friendly staff! Yummy salsas! I have been ordering 5-7 per week for meal prep for months!

I’ve been a regular customer here for the past two years and usually stop by every other day. The food is good for the price, which is why I kept coming back and supporting this place. Unfortunately, today was the moment they lost a customer. After paying $15 for my bowl, I was told that I needed to wrap and bag it myself. That’s honestly one of the disrespectful customer experiences I’ve had. Basic service..and I mean BASIC…should include finishing the order you just prepared. Asking customers to handle the final step themselves is top tier careless and dismissive. It’s not about the bag, small actions like this show how much a business actually values its customers. If you’re okay with paying for food and then being asked to complete the service yourself, this might be the place for you. I hope the business doesn’t reply with the usual “we value our customers…yapa yapa” response, because actions say otherwise.

Food is great and made to order (people compare it to Chipotle, but this place is way better!) They have several locations on Oahu, and all are great. I usually get the roasted veggie bowl and it's always great. I would love to try a meat substitute for more protein, but this is still a great place for vegetarian or vegan options.

Finally got to try Oahu Mexican Grill and left a bit underwhelmed. The portions were generous, and the kalua pork was definitely the highlight of my taco plate—loved the flavors. Unfortunately, everything else fell flat and didn’t complement or elevate that standout taste. We ordered the Kalua Carnitas Taco Plate, a Grilled Steak Burrito Combo, and a can of juice, which came out to $46.07. For the quality and overall flavor, it felt overpriced. Not the worst meal, but definitely not one I’d rush back for.

So easy to order online, and it's ready for pick up pretty quickly! Super tasty and always hits the spot! I'm never hungry after eating a jam-packed burrito here. Parking can be a challenge in this area, but well worth it!

This place is simply the best burrito around. The ingredients are always fresh and the service is on point. It can get busy very quickly, the parking can be difficult, and burritos can be soggy at the end, but these are small problems compared to the quality of the food. Have yet to find a better burrito with a healthy portion.

I have been wanting to go here for a very long time now. I think that OMG has a reputation of being the closest restaurant Hawaii has to offer to "Chipotle." As a big Chipotle fan, I think that this would've been a hard expectation to meet, but OMG heavily exceeded my expectations! It's the same set up as Chipotle- that you can choose a burrito, bowl, salad bowl, tacos, or otherwise and they'll go down the line of fix-ins while you choose what you want inside (rice, beans, meat, etc.). I think I like the toppings offered more than those of Chipotle, the offerings of hot sauces, etc. The meats (and food in general) were all quite well seasoned (I got chicken + fajita vegetables). They also have a couple of more special/unique menu items that sounded very yummy and differentiated the restaurant from Chipotle (ie FISH TACOS?! :O). They also offer Margaritas/I believe a couple other alcoholic beverages- which I thought was awesome. I got a salad bowl, my boyfriend got a chicken burrito, and we also shared a small side of chips + salsa. We both really enjoyed our meals. The service was excellent. The young lady who made our food was very sweet and friendly. The guy working there was also super cool and nice! Our meals were quite a reasonable price, as well. Had a great experience here and I assume we will definitely be regulars at the restaurant in the future!

This is such a cute little Tex-Mex restaurant. My husband and I came in for the first time today and have already decided this is our new spot. They have options for vegans and vegetarians as well. The food is phenomenal and most of which was prepared in front of us. I prefer this now over Chipotle’s and Moe’s. We got the bowls. The prices were great too. The cashier was nice enough to inform us that on Thursdays they have 25% off.

Staff 5 🌟, cleanliness of establishment 5 🌟, cost 💰 4 🌟, taste 4 🌟, experience/atmosphere 4 🌟 This is similar in business model to a Qdoba or Chipotle. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the staff. They promptly took our order. The kitchen area was clean and so was the dining area. A very small dining area. The cost is a little better than average for the amount of food you receive. The flavors are good. However, something seemed like it was missing. There was not enough of something and I don't know what. Overall my experience was good here. If you are looking for a healthy fast food, Mexican style, give this a try. Note: Parking is EXTREMELY LIMITED/ TIGHT
