Nori Bar
About
A Modern Take on the Temaki Experience
Tucked into the bustling streets of Honolulu, Nori Bar brings a high-energy, contemporary approach to the traditional temaki-ya style found in Japan. Forget the formal white-tablecloth sushi experience; here, the focus is squarely on the interaction between chef and guest. As you sit at the minimalist counter, the crisp, audible snap of toasted nori meeting warm, seasoned rice serves as the soundtrack to your meal.
The Art of the Hand Roll
Chef-driven and ingredient-obsessed, the menu highlights the simplicity of the hand roll. The signature move here is the speed—your order is crafted the second you request it to ensure the seaweed remains perfectly brittle. Expect buttery bluefin tuna, creamy Hokkaido uni, and locally sourced fish when the catch is right. The interplay of temperatures is the real draw: the contrast between the chilled, ocean-fresh sashimi and the gentle heat of the sushi rice creates a balance that is difficult to stop eating.
Setting the Scene
The space is intentionally intimate, featuring a sleek, stripped-back aesthetic that keeps your eyes glued to the center stage: the sushi bar. It is an ideal spot for those who appreciate efficient, quality-focused dining without the fanfare of a multi-course omakase. Be prepared for a lively, sometimes crowded atmosphere that leans into the vibrant energy of Waikiki. If you arrive during peak hours, don't be surprised to find a queue forming outside; the space fills up quickly due to its compact footprint. It’s the kind of place where you come for a quick, focused bite before heading out into the rest of the Oahu night.

Amazing quality sashimi for reasonable prices. Bar seating only. Easy parking. They take reservations or walk in! You can also do take out orders online. Famous for their rolls! Really enjoyed the nice service and delicious fish! The ordering system is through a QR code, but it’s easy to open a tab and view the menu. Happy hour from 2:30-5!

Amazing quality food for a really good price! My husband and I celebrated our wedding in Hawaii and visited the Nori bar during this time and really enjoyed our time there. Not only was it some of our favorite hand rolls and sashimi, but the staff’s service was amazing. We were especially impressed by the attentiveness and quickness of the hand rolls chef! Everyone was so kind, making for an overall 10/10 experience.
