Noods Ramen Bar (3611 Waialae Ave)
About
Slurping Near the Kaimuki Strip
Stepping into Noods Ramen Bar, you are immediately greeted by the rich, emulsified aroma of pork tonkotsu simmering behind the counter. Located right in the heart of Kaimuki, this spot has become a go-to for locals craving a modern take on Japanese noodle culture without the pretense of a formal sit-down experience.
The interior is compact, prioritizing efficient service and a fast-paced energy that reflects the bustling nature of Waialae Avenue. It is the kind of place where the sound of rhythmic chopping and bubbling cauldrons fills the air, creating a lively backdrop for a quick lunch or a casual evening bowl. Be prepared for a snug seating arrangement; you will be shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow diners, which only adds to the community-centric feel of this neighborhood fixture.
Signature Bowls and Craft Flavors
The menu highlights include their signature Tonkotsu, known for a broth that balances deep umami with a clean, creamy finish that coats every strand of their springy, alkaline noodles. Unlike traditional, heavy-handed renditions, the kitchen focuses on a lighter, refined profile that highlights the quality of their marinated soft-boiled eggs and tender chashu pork. For those seeking a bit of heat, the spicy miso variations provide a complex kick that lingers just long enough without overpowering the subtle seasonings of the ginger and garlic base.
While finding street parking in Kaimuki can occasionally feel like a competitive sport during peak dinner hours, the payoff is a bowl that hits the mark for texture and temperature. Whether you are a solo diner perched at the counter or grabbing a stool with a friend, the focus remains squarely on the steam rising from the bowl and the craft behind the noodles.

I used to love this place before Covid and during Covid because it was super good. Today not so much. The noodle was soft and mushy even after I told the waitress I want my noodles firm. The soup was bland. I had to ask for soy sauce and salt. Even with that it still bland. The pork chasiu was tough and the egg was over cook. Won’t be back.

I visited Noods Ramen Bar and really liked the atmosphere. The place was very clean and well-kept, and there’s a beautiful dock in the back where you can sit, which I really enjoyed. The food itself wasn’t the most exciting for me, but it was still good overall, and the presentation was nice. They also offer free potstickers on certain days, which is a great bonus. The staff and service were excellent (10/10). Even though I was sitting out on the back deck, they made sure to check on me and ensure everything was going well. The Lady evan opened up the umbrella for me. I really appreciated how attentive and friendly everyone was. Overall, while the food didn’t stand out compared to some other ramen places I’ve tried, Noods Ramen Bar is still a solid choice if you’re just looking for a good bowl of ramen without being too picky. The staff, deck, and overall environment are all great. I would definitely come back, especially if you want a place to sit and work on your laptop like I did. They do have Wi-Fi, although it seems to require a password—I ended up just using my phone’s hotspot. The music inside can be a bit loud, but it didn’t bother me since I had my AirPods in. Overall, a great place with a few minor drawbacks, but the excellent service and atmosphere really stand out.
