A Slice of Sicily in the Heart of Honolulu

Stepping into Nicoli's Cannoli feels less like a quick bakery run and more like a teleportation device to a quiet street in Palermo. While most of the city rushes toward the bustling Ala Moana corridor or the tourist-heavy Waikiki strip, this intimate spot remains a hidden sanctuary for those seeking the snap of a perfectly fried pastry shell. The air here is perpetually thick with the scent of toasted pistachios and sweet, whipped ricotta—a fragrant reminder that everything is crafted on-site rather than pulled from a freezer.

Hand-Filled Perfection

The signature draw is, naturally, the cannoli. Each shell is fried to a golden crisp, maintaining a structural integrity that refuses to surrender to the filling until the very last bite. They avoid the common mistake of pre-filling; instead, the sweetened sheep’s milk ricotta is piped into the shell only upon request. It is this minor, time-consuming quirk that keeps the pastry crunchy, though you might find yourself waiting a few extra minutes while the crew works their magic.

The Local Experience

Beyond the signature ricotta, look for rotating seasonal infusions, such as lilikoi-zest or dark chocolate shavings that hint at the local Hawaiian landscape. It is the perfect stop for a post-beach treat or a midday pick-me-up. Be aware that the space is compact, and the few bistro chairs by the window fill up quickly on weekend afternoons. If you visit, skip the heavy meal beforehand; these pastries are dense, rich, and designed to be savored slowly, ideally paired with an espresso that packs just as much punch as the sweets.

The food was delicious. I had the buffet had many options to include great cuts of Primerib. The restaurant can get a little crowded due to it's popularity but it isn't so crowded as to not have an bice intimate dinner for two. I will absolutely be returning on my next trip to Honolulu

The lunch buffet was great offering a wide variety of vegetarian options for me and meat & fish choices for hubby. I tried the Mai Tai, it was good. The best finale was the Hula Pie a don't miss!

Straight from the beach to Duke's for lunch! This place is an absolute institution, so expect it to be busy and be ready to hunt for a table. We sat at the big bar, which had an amazing energy and let us watch the cocktails being crafted. The cocktails were fantastic and served in really cool glassware. We ordered the nachos to share first, planning on tacos next, but the nachos were so incredible we never made it to round two. Seriously, 10/10—the best, most authentic, and flavour-packed nachos we've ever tasted. Don't miss this spot!

Absolutely AMAZING everything. The food was delicious, the young men that were hosts and waiters were so respectful and engaging and kind. It was our first place to eat since arriving to Honolulu and we were so impressed. The crab ragoons were delicious! 10/10 recommend. We came from VT for our honeymoon, what a beautiful location facing the water, plenty of seating and very good service even with every table in the entire restaraunt being filled. They have a great flow and amazing moral.

We LOVED Dukes!!!! Totally understand why there’s queues everyday. An absolute vibe & very lively inside. It’s also facing the ocean. More importantly the food was yummy. Loved the fish it was so juicy. Same with the chicken - well portioned too. Can’t say no to the hula pie heheee, btw it’s huge. We actually did a walk in & was told that it would be approx an hour but got our table around 30-40 mins

Duke’s Waikiki was one of our favorite dining experiences of the trip! The food was absolutely outstanding. The lobster was the best we had during our entire vacation—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also loved the catch of the day and the teriyaki steak, both of which were delicious and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was very tropical feeling, and the service was good. Between the location and amazing food options, it’s easy to see why Duke’s is such a popular spot. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Oahu, Hawaii!

Beachside Casual Dining - Duke's lower deck offers the perfect casual escape right off the sands of Waikiki. This spot is defined by its prime outside seating, making it a favorite for a late lunch where you can catch the golden hour with partial sunset views. Skip the long wait for the main restaurant and enjoy the lively atmosphere, complete with live music. The menu is perfect for a beach break, offering everything from fresh poke tacos and grilled fish salads to pulled pork sandwiches and a variety of cocktails. Grab a drink, a great bite to eat, and then get right back to the ocean! Visited a few times during our stay. Access from the beach or through the Outrigger just past the main restaurant hostess stand. Bar seating is also available by the restaurant.

This famous spot in Waikiki was worth the wait! We came around 12:30 on a weekday for the lunch buffet, and the wait was only around 30 minutes. Everyone here was so friendly, and they were very helpful when we let them know about a tree nut allergy. The buffet included a good variety of items such as kalbi short ribs, teriyaki chicken, Kalua pork and cabbage, garlic shrimp, and customizable poke bowls. There are also many different salads and toppings to choose from. All the food tasted really fresh and flavorful. It was also nice eating with the view of beautiful Waikiki Beach. Despite its popularity, Duke’s did not disappoint!
