A Gateway to Himalayan Flavors

Tucked away near the bustling heart of Honolulu, New Kamana Kitchen serves as a vibrant escape for those craving the authentic heat of Indian and Nepalese cuisine. As you step inside, the immediate scent of toasted cumin and slow-simmered garam masala hits you, signaling that everything here is prepared with traditional intention.

The Culinary Experience

The menu highlights a commitment to robust, spice-forward dishes. Regulars often gravitate toward their signature Chicken Tikka Masala, which features a silky, vibrant tomato-cream sauce that pairs perfectly with freshly slapped garlic naan. For those seeking a deeper dive into Himalayan staples, the vegetable momos—steamed dumplings served with a signature spicy dipping sauce—are essential.

Setting the Scene

The atmosphere is unpretentious and cozy, making it an ideal spot for a casual lunch or an intimate dinner when you want quality food without the pomp. While the space is inviting, keep in mind that the dining area is compact, and the lively kitchen energy can sometimes lead to a slightly louder environment during peak dinner hours. It is the kind of neighborhood joint where the focus remains entirely on the depth of flavor in your bowl rather than the decor. Whether you are navigating the local streets or just finished a long day in the city, the warm hospitality of the staff offers a grounded, welcoming contrast to the nearby urban intensity.

Their Tandoori Chicken is very tender and tasty. It's so much easier to eat the chicken legs than the whole chicken, and the seasoning was divine. Don't forget to add the lemon. Paired with their Vegetable Curry and Garlic Naan, the food was 5/5. Also, medium spicy was medium for me, though I can't handle very spicy food. Our waiter offered no ice or ice for our water, too, which was nice because I prefer no ice in mine. Their booths inside are very comfortable to sit on, but their bathroom has the sink on the outside, just something to note.

Came here for dinner. It is an easy walk from most Waikiki hotels and a pleasant one on the Ala Wai Blvd by the canal. The restaurant itself isn’t particularly nice or have great ambiance, it feels old and tired from the outside and the inside as well. There was plenty of seating and we were told to pick any booth. The service was generally pleasant and efficient. We were given a menu - pretty generic stuff - and picked a meal quickly. They do not serve alcohol at this restaurant. However, all the dishes are served with rice! The meal arrived quickly. It was hot and the taste was OK. Satisfies the craving for Indian food - something only a Naan and daal can do! Nothing much more beyond that.

Opened a second location in Kapahulu, New Kamana Kitchen provides a range of Indian cuisine options including catering, carryout, and delivery to suit your needs. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or planning a large event, they can work with you on your needs. Was in Waikiki and decided to take a short drive to check out the new Kapahulu location. Ordered the garlic cheese naan which is cheese stuffed naan with minced garlic on top. Some of the top garlic naan I've tried on the island. Crispy exterior with fresh garlic, herbs and stuffed with cheese. Ordered the chicken tiki masala and chicken biryani which came with big portion size. We ended up having leftovers. Tiki masala was a little sweeter tomato base than I've normally had but it was still delicious. Service was great and it was good to see the restaurant run by family. Food was delicious as well. Free parking spots located in the back but it is limited. First come first serve.
