Myungrang Hot Dog
About
A Crispy Slice of Seoul in Honolulu
Walking through the bustling corridors near Ala Moana, the unmistakable scent of fried dough and toasted sugar pulls you toward Myungrang Hot Dog. This is not your typical state fair corn dog; it is a masterclass in Korean street food architecture. The signature batter, fermented with rice flour, achieves a shattering crunch that gives way to a center so chewy and elastic it feels like a science experiment.
The Art of the Korean Corn Dog
The menu highlights the classic original, but the true stars are the inventive combinations. The half-mozzarella, half-sausage skewer is a local favorite, offering a satisfying pull of melted cheese that stretches for inches. For those who enjoy a texture play, the potato-diced corn dog is coated in cubes of crispy potato, resulting in an extra-crunchy bite that pairs perfectly with a dusting of sweet sugar and a drizzle of spicy mayo.
The Honolulu Experience
Don't expect a formal dining room here. It is a high-energy grab-and-go spot where the focus is entirely on the handheld snack. The staff moves with precision, keeping up with the constant flow of hungry shoppers and office workers from the surrounding district. It can get a bit crowded during peak lunch hours, and you will likely find yourself maneuvering through the small storefront with a piping hot skewer in hand, but the quick service makes the wait negligible. It is the ideal stop for anyone craving a savory, salty, and sweet kick without committing to a full sit-down meal.

This is a pretty neat idea. Think fancy or unique corn dogs. You can get different centers or mixed (hot dog, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese). You also pick different outsides, this one is half cheddar, half mozzarella, with potato outside deep fried. You get dipping sauces too. Bought one to try it and share with wife.

Fantastic food for the price. And I've never had such good corn dogs before really really good. You got to try the coconut. Can you can't beat the price. For $6 for one of these is an amazing deal. Service was fast and I would definitely come back

Like a corn dog/mozzarella stick combo but with unusual flavors - like a rice cake “hot dog”, squid ink breading, potato crust ... and to top it off, a sugar coating. Located in the first floor food court at Ala Moana Shopping Center, they also serve another popular street food called Tteok - which they describe as a spicy rice cake. I got the squid ink hot dog - I didn’t taste squid ink but that could’ve been masked by the sugar coating. It was a sturdy but tender breading around the half hot dog and mozzarella - quite good despite my reservations about all those flavors colliding.
