About
A Neighborhood Staple for Korean Comfort
Tucked away in the heart of Honolulu, My B B Q serves as a go-to spot for those craving authentic, no-frills Korean comfort food. The scent of marinated meats hitting the flat-top grill greets you the moment you step through the door, cutting through the humid island air. It is the kind of place where local families congregate on weeknights, opting for the ease of a well-balanced plate over elaborate dining rituals.
Sizzling Flavors of Kalihi
The menu highlights include the signature Kalbi, which balances sweetness and char in equal measure, and their generous portions of meat jun. Each meal arrives with an array of banchan that changes with the season, offering a sharp, fermented contrast to the savory proteins. The texture of the rice is consistently fluffy, serving as the perfect base for their rich, sauce-heavy preparations.
The Honolulu Dining Experience
Don't expect a quiet, hushed environment here. The space often hums with the clatter of stainless steel utensils and the lively chatter of regulars who have been coming to this neighborhood haunt for years. If you are planning a visit, keep in mind that parking can be a bit of a scramble during the peak lunch rush, but the steady stream of diners waiting for takeout boxes is a clear indicator that the struggle is worth it. Whether you are looking for a quick bite after a long day or a hearty meal to fuel your Honolulu adventures, this spot captures the unpretentious spirit of local island dining.

If you’re working or wandering through downtown Honolulu and need a legit food win, do yourself a favor and stop by My BBQ. 🔥 From the moment you walk in, the staff sets the tone—super friendly, quick, and dialed-in. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. Now let’s talk about the real reason you’re here: the meat jun. My wife and I have been on a serious hunt for the best one on the island, and we both agree… this is the spot. They don’t skimp either—thick cuts of meat, a perfectly balanced batter, and that sauce? Just the right touch of sweetness that ties everything together. Portions are generous, quality is consistent, and everything just hits the mark. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch between meetings or planning catering for an office event, they make it easy and go above and beyond to accommodate. Hands down one of our favorite spots in town. Highly recommend.

I had no idea that the order comes with 4 sides. Next time I will double the Mac Salad. Everything was ono and even though there was no soy in packets there was something similar but better than any soy sauce I've ever had. I was there at 2:30 which is well after their lunch rush but the fish Jun was cooked fresh and two big scoops of rice for the local touch. Aloha

I’ve been eating at this Korean take out spot for years. Located in Bishop Square, they serve all the classics you’d expect from a Korean restaurant. They also have breakfast bentos in the morning which are cheap and satisfying.
