Moobongri Soup & Yakiniku
About
A Taste of Seoul in Kaka'ako
Stepping into Moobongri Soup & Yakiniku feels like a quick trip to a bustling neighborhood eatery in Seoul. Located right in the heart of the Honolulu dining scene, this spot specializes in sundae-guk—a traditional Korean blood sausage soup that arrives at your table bubbling in a stone pot. The air is thick with the savory, restorative scent of long-simmered pork bone broth, cut through by the sharp, fresh tang of house-made kimchi.
The Art of the Grill
While the soups are the soul of the menu, the yakiniku experience provides the high-energy contrast. You will find tabletop grills occupied by sizzling cuts of premium beef, the sound of searing fat acting as the soundtrack to your dinner. It is an interactive, communal way to eat, perfect for groups who don’t mind the occasional splutter of oil or the lingering, delicious aroma of garlic and soy on their clothes.
Know Before You Go
The interior leans into a utilitarian, no-frills aesthetic that keeps the focus squarely on the food. Expect a lively, often boisterous atmosphere—this isn't a place for hushed whispers. Pro-tip: the banchan selection is particularly generous, often featuring unique fermented sides that rotate based on seasonality. Be prepared for a tight parking situation if you are visiting during the peak dinner rush in the Kaka'ako district, but the depth of flavor in their signature broth makes navigating the lot well worth the effort. Whether you are looking for a hangover cure or a meat-heavy feast, this local favorite delivers consistent, authentic Korean soul food.

Moobongri Sundae House in Hawaii is hands down one of the best places for high-quality meat. The staff (the ladies here) are incredibly kind and welcoming, which always makes the experience even better. The prices are reasonable for Hawaii, and while it’s definitely more expensive than Korea, it’s absolutely worth it. If you’re craving real Korean flavors in Hawaii, this is the place to go. Every visit leaves us happy and satisfied. It’s perfect for a delicious dinner with family or friends. Highly recommended! 한국식당 맛집!!! 최고!!

Came here for dinner on a Monday. It wasn’t too crowded yet. We opted for the premium AYCE fr $35.95. Food was delicious. Meat quality was pretty decent. Bonchon was pretty good. I had the kimchi soup as well and that was very good. Definitely a go to for KBBQ.

Thankful for Michelle, our auntie who served us with love and enthusiasm! She is full of smiles and giggles. She took my family's group pic. She was so sweet to our kids. Their service was quick and incredible! They help you cook the meat sometimes when they notice your hands are full. They refill water pretty fast. They also check in each table so well. This is by far our favorite samgyupsal/yakiniku. The meat is of great quality! Sauces are so ono. Corn cheese da bomb 😭 love their kimchi soup too! worth every penny for sure.
