A Masterclass in Waikiki Noodle Craft

Steps away from the iconic sands of Waikiki Beach, Momosan Honolulu serves up more than just a quick lunch. Conceptualized by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, this spot strips away the pretense of high-end dining and replaces it with the soul-warming hum of slurping noodles. You’ll find the space buzzing with energy, anchored by an open kitchen where the steam from giant cauldrons rises to meet the industrial-chic ceilings.

The Art of the Slurp

The menu leans heavily into the chef’s obsession with tonkotsu, but the signature Tokyo Chicken Ramen is the real draw for those seeking something lighter yet deeply savory. The broth is rich, clarified to perfection, and arrives with noodles that maintain a satisfying snap until the very last bite. If you visit on a warm afternoon, their selection of chilled sake and Japanese beer cuts through the humidity of the Honolulu air perfectly.

Know Before You Go

This isn't a place for hushed, whispered conversations. The acoustics bounce off the hard surfaces, creating a lively, high-decibel backdrop that feels quintessentially urban. While the interior is spacious, the popularity of Morimoto’s brand means the bar area can get crowded quickly during happy hour. If you are planning a visit, be prepared to embrace the wait—the bar service and the proximity to the bustling shopping corridors make the downtime feel like part of the neighborhood ritual rather than a chore.

Excellent ramen, view of the beach, and will be coming back here again! Our waiter Caesar was very helpful and, when informed about a shellfish allergy, he made sure to check in with the kitchen and let us know which ramen has absolutely no contamination. when he noticed it, he provided an alternative that does not have any cross contamination.

Excellent and friendly service! The food was delicious. The ramen had a wonderful flavor. I did substitute for chicken since I’m not a pork fan, and it didn’t disappoint. First meal on the island and I’m stuffed. I asked Caesar for some recommendations from the beer to food and it was on point! Delicious spot

Visiting Momosan in Waikiki on a cool, rainy night definitely hit the spot for comfort, though the meal itself left us with mixed feelings. We found the Tonkotsu ramen to be quite heavy, and it really could have used more bean sprouts or bamboo shoots to provide some much-needed crunch and lightness. The preserved mustard greens were an interesting topping choice, but ultimately they felt a bit salty and didn't add much to the overall flavor profile. Unfortunately, the vegan miso ramen missed the mark for us as well, tasting far too salty due to a very heavy hand with the miso paste. Seaweed salad and edamame app were good though. While the atmosphere was cozy for the weather, the flavor imbalances mean we likely wouldn't choose to go back again. On a positive note, our waitress was incredibly helpful and kind, providing excellent service that made the evening much more pleasant. Even though the food didn't quite live up to our expectations, the warm hospitality was a bright spot in our dining experience. Overall, it served its purpose for a rainy evening, but there are better ramen options to explore in Honolulu.

I recently visited Momosan Waikiki and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. I ordered the chicken and shrimp fried rice, which came in a generous portion — definitely enough to satisfy. The flavors were spot on, and it made for a really enjoyable meal. The service was a highlight as well. We had a short wait for a table, which was no trouble at all. Our server was attentive throughout the meal and really knew the menu, offering helpful guidance without being pushy. I also appreciated that the restaurant was able to accommodate a food allergy, which made dining out feel stress-free. Overall, Momosan Waikiki delivered a great experience — good food, good portions, and genuinely attentive service. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Came here with a big group! They found us a table and it was really nice. Good: - The tsukemen is super tasty - and a good portion size - Sticky ribs are incredible - so much flavor and really crunchy - was a texture I was surprised by - Tons of seating even for big groups Bad: - Kaarage was a bit dry - A bit pricey, everything was above $20 even the smallests items on the menu - Takes a bit for food to arrive Overall this was a nice casual place to go with a big group. Also very central so easy to access

Excellent service. Very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent. Had a heart tonkatsu ramen with a side of some excellent ribs (recommended by the waitress). My complain is the noodles could have been a bit thicker and better utensils (the chopsticks, the bowl, the soup spoon) considering the price point of the location.

Our first stop in Waikiki on Wednesday afternoon, 11/19/25. Hostess was so friendly! She greeted us with a smile and was able to seat us quickly. We split the lunch special for $34: softshell crab bao (a little spicy for me, but deliciously worth it), Tonkatsu Ramen (perfectly cooked noodles, savory broth, lovely seasoned egg and chashu pork), and a refreshing IPA. All the servers were very friendly and checked in on us. We asked for other recommendations in the area and they answered with a smile. We sat on their outdoor patio; the chairs and tables were comfortably spaced out. We will definitely visit again on our next trip!

This spot is great! While staying in for Waikiki for a few days my family came here twice (once for dinner with a local friend who recommended momoson in the first place, and again for lunch/happy hour). The standout was definitely the spicy tan tan ramen. The broth, a red curry base, was delicious and unlike any other ramen I've had anywhere in the world. The noodles were also high quality, and the pork included in the ramen bowls was tasty (and was cut kind of similar to thick cut bacon). I also tried the tonkotsu ramen which was great (not the best I've ever had, but definitely among the better bowls I've had in the US) and the dan dan noodle which was spicy and flavorful (much spicier than the spicy tan tan which I liked). For appetizers, we also tried the pork ribs (apparently the house specialty), the gyoza, and the karage. The gyoza and karage were good and definitely similar to those I've had in the past, but the spare ribs were delicious. They were extremely crispy and the meat was delicious and tender. The sauce reminded me of general Tso's chicken in a good way. So tasty! Their draft beer deals during happy hour were also great and were a much appreciated escape from the hot sun. Overall Momosan is really good and not too expensive given the location! Definitely worth a try if you're in the area and unsure about where to eat.
