An Evening of Island Beats and Local Comfort

Stepping into Moani Waikiki feels like crashing a high-energy backyard luau right in the heart of the International Market Place. The space hums with the electric energy of local musicians, where slack-key guitar riffs compete with the clinking of glasses. It is the kind of spot where the music is loud enough to encourage dancing between tables but still allows for shouting your order to the server.

Modern Hawaiian Comfort Food

The menu leans heavily into updated local classics. You’ll find the signature Moani Ribs—glazed in a sticky, sweet-savory concoction that practically falls off the bone—sharing table space with hearty portions of poke and furikake-crusted fish. The kitchen embraces the bold, salty, and umami profiles that define modern Honolulu dining, making it a perfect pitstop for those craving elevated comfort food after a day of beach hopping.

The Waikiki Pulse

Between the nightly live performances, you’ll notice the crowd is a mix of vacationers finding their rhythm and locals looking for a reliable spot to catch a favorite band. The lighting is low and amber-hued, catching the condensation on icy cocktails that emphasize tropical fruit juices and local spirits. A quick note for those driving in: parking in this section of Waikiki is notoriously tricky, so valet or ride-sharing is your best bet to ensure you don't miss the first set. Whether you are grabbing a late-night bite or settling in for a full dinner show, the atmosphere remains consistently upbeat and unapologetically local.

We had such a good experience tonight. We walked up, just hungry and long day of traveling, didn’t read any reviews, nothing. We got sat quickly. We got water right away. She came got our orders and it was all very quick. The food was SO GOOD! I got the vegetable & tofu noodles. My friend got a Caesar salad and garlic shrimp/noodles. The service was amazing. We also loved the live music!

This is a good location at the international market place. It's on the third floor. It gives you a sense of outdoor seating. The Hawaiian music was lovely. The food was as good as the Moani in Kapolei. This location has a greater variety of food choices which satisfied everyone in our group. We had several platters which offered kalbi, spicy shrimp, poke to name a few. We also had the smoked meat mac and cheese which was yummy. We enjoyed the shrimp and ordered and additional platter of it. For dessert we had banana splits. The banana is in the form.of a banana lumpia and it was so tasty. My friends said it was the best banana splits they had ever had. The waitstaff was exceptional and very accommodating. As a local, I would go to this location again for dinner.

Atmosphere is really nice here and they had live music when I went. The calamari appetizer was great for value with happy hour pricing but the aluani platter was very over priced for very small portion. The shrimp on there was very good, pork belly was decent and the poke nachos were good even though they chopped up the poke to more of a paste.

Great service and great atmosphere. They have live music every night. Good margaritas and good pupu’s. We had several and bao was really good.

I recently dined at Moani Waikiki Restaurant, and my experience was mixed. The portions were generous, which is a plus, but unfortunately, the food was just okay and lacked flavor. The atmosphere felt crowded, making it a bit uncomfortable. Additionally, the service was slower than expected. While it has potential, I hope they can improve on the taste and service for a better overall experience.

Nice place with live singing performance! Food is reasonably good and we received great service there! Recommend bigger group or family to visit as the food portion is really huge. My wife and I visited Moani Waikiki for dinner as a couple and we do struggle a bit to finish the food we ordered. We also saw couples packaging food back as they are unable to finish the dishes. Their size portion is more for group/family sharing. Food wise I would highly recommend their pork belly and spicy shrimps and clams!!! Their seafood is really fresh and we love it.

Had a lovely happy hour with a large group. They were very accommodating, and Jordan gave us great service! $5 well wine and beer and $14 select appetizers like fried chicken, pork belly, pork bao, and calamari. The Caesar salad with chicken (staff favorite) was off the charts. ($16) The dressing was delicious. The lettuce was fresh, and I loved the crunchy chicken on top plus the tiny little crunchy, arare and umami furikake. The pork belly appetizer was on happy hour for $14 which was eight succulent slices of pork belly on top of kimchi and lettuce. I would ask for light sauce next time, to more enjoy the grilled crunchy outside of the pork belly. I also got to try the pork hash bun, which was like a super seasoned pork hash filling, but instead of wonton wrapper was inside of a fluffy bao bun. Top notch! Even my soda water was perfectly carbonated. I always avoided this place because I thought it was a tourist trap, but now I am super impressed by the overall quality of the food, the enthusiasm of the staff, even though it was a slow day, and the overall value was excellent for the area where portions can be small and prices can be high. Thanks Moani team, can’t wait to come back and dance.

House **INSIDE** the third floor of international market (if you rely on Google maps- it’ll loop your around) . I loved the food so much that I went to this restaurant 3 times during my stay. It’s also a great atmosphere for groups. There’s live music on site and also the hallways at the restaurant gives a good view of the lower level of the international market

Our family came at 5p and were promptly seated. We requested an inside table, unfortunately only the high tops were available. The outdoor dining had overhead fans which created a comfortable eating environment. The service was prompt and food came out in a timely manner. Cocktails were great although pricey. We enjoyed our experience and we will return.

Great spot for larger parties. It’s tucked away on the top floor of the mall so it doesn’t get as much traffic, which is a good thing if you don’t want to wait 3 hours for a table. The live music was good. The pickled mango margarita was not strong, but it had the makings to be a great drink. The portions are huge and can be shared family style. The spicy poke nachos were really good. The vibes are great and the restaurant is spacious.
