Miro Kaimuki
About
A Parisian Escape in Kaimuki
Stepping into Miro Kaimuki feels like finding a quiet, refined corner of France amidst the bustling energy of Honolulu’s favorite culinary district. The space is minimalist and stripped back, letting the focus remain entirely on the plate rather than the decor. You’ll hear the hum of focused conversation over the clinking of wine glasses, creating an environment that feels intimate and sophisticated without being stiff.
The Culinary Craft
Chef Chris Kajioka and his team have built a menu that honors French technique while staying deeply rooted in the local bounty of Hawaii. The signature approach here involves a rotating seasonal menu that might feature anything from perfectly seared market fish to decadent, butter-forward pastries that disappear quickly once the doors open. Every dish emphasizes precision; the flavors are clean, balanced, and intentionally sourced from island farmers.
Tips for Your Visit
The pacing of the meal is deliberate, making this a spot for diners who want to linger over their food rather than grab a quick bite. Because the kitchen operates with such a specific vision, the menu changes frequently, so don't get too attached to one item before your next visit. One quirk to note is the street parking in this part of town; it can be a bit of a hunt, so factor in a few extra minutes to navigate the surrounding blocks before your reservation. Whether you are a local food enthusiast or a visitor looking to escape the Waikiki crowds, this Kaimuki gem delivers a masterclass in modern bistro dining.

Every bite from appetizer to entree to dessert was perfection. Moody setting and great wine list, had a great time hanging out there with old and new friends. Fancy food often just looks great, but miro the counter flavors were delicious, delicate, and well balance. Great for special occasions.

What a great new Omakase concept. Love their food. My only suggestion si the background music. Listening to salsa while eating such I was the best. But all else was fantastic.

Will I come back again? Maybe Ⓜ️but I’m really glad I tried it. Service: 4.8/5 - The team was genuinely kind and attentive, which made the dinner feel relaxed and welcoming. Food: 4.2/5 - The menu was overall very balanced, with flavors that felt clean and well-composed. My favorite course was the peas and Kira. The mix of textures made every bite a little different. You don’t fully know what you’ll get next, peas or ikura, which made it such a fun course. The famous brioche with uni was beautiful and very Instagrammable, though the flavor wasn’t as memorable as I expected. Dessert was the weakest part for me. It had panna cotta, ice cream, and shave ice, so the cold-on-cold layers felt a bit intense and the ending felt slightly rushed. At around $200 per person, I still enjoyed the overall experience. Nice spot if you want something intimate, and creative without feeling too formal.

An absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding every single dish was crafted with precision and attention to detail. You can tell a lot of thought and intention goes into each course. The service was just as impressive. Our water was constantly and seamlessly topped off, and the chefs were not only talented but genuinely friendly, taking the time to explain each dish and make the experience feel personal. I really appreciated how well they paced the 12 courses it never felt rushed or overwhelming. By the end, I was completely satisfied (and I’m 6’0”, 215 lbs, so that says a lot). The atmosphere felt exclusive and private, which made the whole night even more special. This is a high-end dining experience, and you’re paying for true quality from the ingredients to the execution to the service. If you’re looking for a top-tier culinary experience, this is the place. If you’re expecting something casual or cheap, this isn’t it and that’s exactly what makes it so good.

This new course counter is located at the previous Leila location in the same parking as Koko Head Cafe. This counter was absolutely beautiful and all of the plates & food was exceptional 🤩 1- Off menu “donabe” fried rice that was made with foie Gras and wagyu😍 this was so rich and luxurious in every bite! 2- Wagyu with sweet potato, mountain yam and gobo. Wagyu was melt in your mouth level 3- Shrimp with curry sauce - this was one of my favorites😍 4- Black Cod - this was my top top favorite dish, cooked perfectly and the sauce was so good 5- Housemade rolls with honey butter 6- Tuna with Caviar 7- Wagyu and uni on top of Miro’s famous brioche😍 8- Snacks: Maui onion puff topped with black truffle 9- Snacks: Smoked salmon tart 10- Oysters 11- Panna Cotta topped with rosemary oil & Yuzu sorbet 😍 this was soooo good and all the flavors matched together 12- Banana mochi cake with vanilla ice cream 13- Mini Madelines & Nama Chocolate Don’t get this restaurant confused with Cafe Miro which is now an Ala Carte Menu at the old Miro location! Reservation on Open Table!

11/10 food 10/10 service 10/10 value This new $180 pre fixe counter experience blew our minds and it was worth every penny. 13 courses + 1 secret off menu item (Wagyu donabe rice). Every dish was thoughtfully put together and perfectly balanced with flavors, textures and temperature. Every dish slapped the Counter didn’t miss 🔥🔥🔥 My personal favorite was the Wagyu rice in the giant clay pot. Hands down the best rice I’ve ever had. The Japanese couple next to us kept saying “gohan tsugoiiiii!!!!” My wife’s favorite dish of the night was one of the early bites which was a chutoro and otoro tar tar with fresh wasabi and Caviar. For such a new restaurant the service was extremely polished. Chefs timed the dishes perfectly. Sommelier was knowledgable and made great recommendations. Daniel the host went above and beyond making us feel more like family than just customers.

I had the prix fixe at the bar, and the staff were overall awesome and attentive. Everything I had was delicious with bold flavors, and the presentation was beautiful. Not to mention, the wine pairing was phenomenal. It’s a beautiful establishment—you’ll definitely enjoy it.

I had the prix fixe at the bar. Really attentive bar staff and servers. Everything we had was delicious and although the menu rotates regularly, you have to try the tuna on brioche (a mainstay). The presentation is gorgeous for every dish. Do try the cocktails — these are some of the most creative I’ve ever found, with one drink incorporating the flavor of peas. They also had a somm on staff who was very willing to share the extensive history of every wine in the pairing.
