A Slice of Seoul in the Heart of Honolulu

Walking into Million Restaurant, you are immediately met with the savory, charcoal-scented air typical of high-quality Korean barbecue. Located in the bustling Kaka'ako area, this spot serves as a long-standing institution for those craving authentic galbi and thinly sliced brisket. The atmosphere is unpretentious and focused entirely on the tabletop grill experience, where the hiss of sizzling meat replaces the need for background music.

The Art of the Charcoal Grill

Unlike many modern establishments that have transitioned to gas burners, Million maintains its dedication to the traditional charcoal cooking method. This choice imparts a distinct, smoky depth to their signature marinated short ribs that simply cannot be replicated by electric alternatives. The side dish selection, or banchan, arrives in a rapid-fire succession of small bowls—the pungent crunch of fresh kimchi and sweet, cold potato salad are consistent highlights that anchor the meal.

Local Nuance

While the food is stellar, come prepared for a lively, high-energy environment that leans toward the louder side, perfect for group gatherings or late-night refueling. It is worth noting that the parking situation in this corner of the district can be a bit tight, so arriving a few minutes early is a smart strategy to secure a spot before the dinner rush peaks. Whether you are a regular devotee of Korean cuisine or a first-timer looking for a genuine, no-frills meal, Million provides a reliable, heat-filled culinary stop in the Honolulu dining scene.

하와이 맛집중 하나이고 역사가 깊은 거부는 외국인도 인정해주더군요. It is located in an older building. You might disappointed where it located or older building. But foods taste wonderful! Mabagement of same original owner and building for decades. Korean BBQ and cold noodle are the best. Parking is available at rear of restaurant. Parking lots are labeled. Walking distance from tourist favorite Walmart in Honolulu, HI.

Popped in last night.....and what a delight!!!! This place brings back so many great meteorites of my younger years.... partying all night, with the Millions GRIND session before heading home. So pretty much been coming here for a good 21 or so years......haha dang kids have been born and can now drink since I first started coming here. The food is always great and comes out hot and sizzling to your order. Their sides are amazing.... that run the range of all sorts of goodies you'd come to expect. Daikon, Kim Chee, fish cake, cucumber Kim Chee, etc etc......their best everyone always love is their potatoe salad. Rich and creamy goodness for the tummy. My favorite is the spicy pork, meat Jin, and kalbi. My wife and son love the cold noodle soup and mandu The servers are always polite. The inside is a little older, and not the fanciest. Oh and also tried the fried chicken last night.....crunchy and juicy deliciousness!!! Ohhhhh AND the Jap Chae is awesome.....although it's pretty expensive, haha. It's a hot cooked version with mushrooms and beef.

On my last day visiting Hawaii I ordered takeout from Million Restaurant in Honolulu, and enjoyed the delicious meal at the airport. I tried their Meat Jun and BBQ Chicken Plate, and it turned out to be a delectable , satisfying experience—especially for a quick meal on the go. Million Restaurant is a solid choice for anyone craving flavorful Hawaiian-Korean fusion food. While I didn’t dine in, the takeout experience was excellent—quick, convenient, and high-quality. Both the Meat Jun and BBQ Chicken Plate were satisfying, but the BBQ Chicken Plate really stood out for its smoky, tender chicken and well-balanced sides. Video Review will be posted on Tik Tok and Instagram soon @Foxyappetite In depth review: Atmosphere (Takeout Experience): Although I didn’t dine in, it’s worth mentioning that Million Restaurant has a simple, local vibe, ideal for those who want a no-frills, homey meal. The restaurant itself is small and casual, which makes it perfect for quick takeout orders. I picked up my meal without a long wait, and the staff was friendly and efficient, even during busy hours. They packed everything neatly, making it easy to enjoy the food once I arrived at the airport. Service: Service for takeout was efficient and courteous. I called and made my order before picking up and given that I was in a bit of a rush to get to the airport, the food was ready on time, and the portions were generously packed. The staff’s attention to detail in ensuring that everything was properly sealed for takeout was much appreciated. Food: Meat Jun: I was pleasantly surprised by the Meat Jun, especially since takeout can sometimes affect the crispiness of fried items. The batter stayed crispy, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The marinade was a good balance of sweet and savory, though I would have liked it to be a little more pronounced in flavor. The dipping sauce was a nice touch, though it could’ve used a little more acidity or spice to elevate the overall dish. Even after the short transit time to the airport, the Meat Jun held up well and tasted fresh. BBQ Chicken : The BBQ Chicken was grilled perfectly, with a satisfying smoky flavor and a beautiful caramelized glaze from the BBQ sauce. Even though it had been packed for takeout, the chicken remained juicy and tender inside, with a nice char on the outside. The BBQ sauce itself was sweet and flavorful, though slightly on the sweeter side for my taste. The plate came with a generous portion of rice and a side of macaroni salad. The rice was perfectly steamed, and the mac salad had that creamy, tangy taste you’d expect from a good Hawaiian-style version. The portions were generous, and the entire plate was filling and well-balanced. My best friend also ordered the fried salmon, and it didn’t disappoint. The salmon was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining moist and tender on the inside. The seasoning was simple but flavorful, allowing the natural taste of the fish to shine. She was really happy with her choice and even mentioned it was one of the better fried salmon dishes she’s had in a while. Price: For the quality and portion size, Million Restaurant offers great value for money. The prices are reasonable for the generous servings you get. My takeout order was a satisfying meal that didn’t break the bank, which is a major plus, especially when traveling. It’s a good option if you’re looking for something affordable and tasty without the hassle. Overall: If you’re looking for a filling, delicious meal on the go (especially if you’re headed to the airport), Million Restaurant is definitely worth considering. The food is flavorful, the service is efficient, and the price is right. I’ll be back for sure, and I’m curious to try more of their menu next time!

One of my fav hole in the wall places. This place has been around forever. There is limited parking in the back of the building or street parking. The service is good and fast. The food is delicious. If you are looking for fine dining, this is not the place. They can fill up quick so I recommend a reservation.

A couple of co-workers and I stopped in for lunch at the Sheridan Street location. This is a regular stop on our rotation of lunch spots whenever my co-workers have their hair cut. I almost always order the Meat Jun / BBQ Chicken plate. The serving is generous and the selection of banchan is pretty good. The service is fast and we're usually in and out in 30 minutes. It's not gourmet, just good Korean comfort food.

Great customer service and set up for cooking your own Korean food. Unfortunately, I didn’t think that the quality of the meats were the best. I’ve had much better here in Hawaii. I really love the woman that are working here. They’re very fast and efficient and fun. I would recommend having some friends coming over here and having drinks and eating, I just don’t recommend the food

THE OG of Korean food. Easy parking outside but keep in mind it shares with the other businesses. Worse case there’s street parking. Booth seating inside and ambience is not your typical upscale or super clean spot. Hahah Service was normal no issues at all. Food: Meat jun, ample refillable banchan dishes, kalbi short ribs, seafood pancake, etc.

Quality Korean food at a good value. If you elect to grill yourself, you can order the meats a la cart (a little pricier) or as a group of pre-selected meats (best value). We went with selection A which was plenty of food for two people. But we also added some beef tongue. We also ordered a seafood pancake on the side. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our meal came with some traditional banchan; all were great. The inside decor is a little old and dated but adds to the overall experience. The service was very friendly and extremely efficient. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

This place has bomb Korean food. I will say, it can get pricey outside of lunch hours, so do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and go during their Lunch Special hours 11AM-3PM (currently). I am a personal fan of their Bibimbap (both stone and non-stone pot), spicy cold noodle, and yukgaejang. Very generous in portions, friendly staff, and delicious sides. I will say, their meat isn't the greatest, such as the BBQ Chicken or BBQ Beef. Had it recently and there was a lot of fat on the beef...so just be warned. Anyways, make your wallet and your mouth happy here ;) (Pics are BBQ Chicken/BBQ Beef Combo, close-up of the beef, the banchan, and the cold spicy noodle.)
