Miguel's Cocina
About
A Taste of Mexico in Honolulu
Stepping into Miguel's Cocina feels less like walking into a restaurant and more like finding a quiet, sun-drenched corner of Mexico tucked away in the bustling Honolulu urban landscape. The air is thick with the scent of freshly toasted corn tortillas and slow-simmered carnitas, a stark contrast to the salt air blowing in from nearby Waikiki.
Savoring the Menu
This is where you go when you want scratch-made salsa that carries a genuine kick. Their signature street-style tacos are a standout, featuring meats seasoned with complex chili blends that pay homage to traditional recipes. The menu sidesteps the typical tourist-trap fare, opting instead for deep, earthy mole sauces and house-made guacamole that hits the table bright green and perfectly seasoned with sea salt. If you order the enchiladas, prepare for a generous portion that leans into rich, savory comfort.
The Neighborhood Atmosphere
The space carries an unpretentious energy. You will hear the rhythmic clinking of tequila glasses and the low hum of conversation against a backdrop of classic Latin tracks. It is the kind of spot where you might have to squeeze past a neighbor to reach your table, but the tight floor plan only adds to the community-focused character of the dining room. It is an ideal escape for locals seeking a reliable, high-quality lunch or a casual evening out that feels personal rather than produced. Just keep in mind that street parking in this part of town requires a bit of patience, so factor in a few extra minutes to navigate the surrounding blocks before settling into your first round of chips and salsa.

Absolutely awesome food! Miguel knows how to serve up fresh, tasty vittles at the sea front! We had the burrito carnitas, anticuchos (steak skewers with corn on the cob and potato wedges) and a burgers with waffle fries (true smash burger, not a frozen patty!) Reasonably priced, great portions, fast friendly service, and sea side (next to Makani Catamaran)! Best foodtruck experience we've had in a long time! (Better than Kahuku by a long shot!) Thanks, brother!

Good food but food trucks that don't follow their own publicly listed open hours and randomly close when they feel like, but don't notify their supporters even on social media don't deserve positive ratings. I've even recommended this place to others, but TWICE now I've come all the way down and this place was unexpectedly CLOSED 🤬

I had the short rib taco add pickled onions and it was sooo good. Can’t stop thinking about how good it was. Did not come with salsa (did not ask for some so maybe they offer it) but even without, it was still amazing! My friend got the fish taco and also thought that was really good. Food is a little greasy, but to me that makes it even better!!

The fish tacos were so good I devoured them immediately after the first bite - 10/10 My guy was so nice too and ended his break early to take care of me. Amazing food and owner. Mahalo!

We LOVED this place. It's hard to find a place that satisfies all 4 of us (parents and kids 13 and 11), but we all agreed that they have the best tacos we have ever had. We had all 3 types- fish, anticucho (short rib), and purple haze (grilled Okinawa sweet potato)-- and the crispy corn tortilla, filling, and toppings made perfect tacos. It's in a food truck park in a fun location, with plenty of tables, fun music, and overlooks the water-- perfect place to be at sunset. The owner was so friendly, too! Oh, and the prices are amazing. We'll be back before our trip is over!

Get the Anticucho taco. Its AMAZING. Only complaint I have is, they closed early on me and I wasn't able to get my "fix". Im not ashamed to say that I ate there twice and I'll probably stop by before I leave.

Some of the best fish tacos I’ve had on the island! Fresh fish daily from the harbor. Owner operator Miguel is super hospitable, kind, and the food was ready quick. Definitely coming back regularly! If you’re craving Mexican food or a quick taco in town this is the spot! Im coming back to try the rest of the menu
