Mexi Lulu

A little disappointed with our experience here. Food was definitely lacking, along with the drinks. We started with a a Aperol Spritz, which was quite literally terrible. Ratios were wildly off. The margarita was okay with lots of lime, but was also weak. Keep in mind these drinks are $16. In terms of food, we ordered a Hawaiian burger, and the scallop tacos. The burger I was brought was like a a mushroom Swiss burger, and it was barely even cooked rare (I ordered it medium). I would have said something, but no one came by the table for a while and we were starving. Fries were okay, but undercooked. For $25, not cool. Tacos were okay but kind of watery (from the seafood). We asked for our check, and it ended up taking 30 minutes to arrive, even after asking multiple other staff members for it. This place has allot of potential and a beautiful location, but for the prices and food/drink quality it felt like a shame paying this much for what we were served.

Okay, let me spill the tea on MexiLulu... the new and cibeyMexican joint in Honolulu. You cant miss the exceptional views of the harbor, best to go at sunset! Also picture this... pomodoro pizza with a spicy Hawaiian honey glaze called "The Hula Dancer." It's like Italy and Hawaii had a foodie baby, and it's a vibe. Honestly, I thought it’d be sus: "The Mexican pizza" but that cotija cheese hit different. It ended up being my fave, who knew? And don’t even get me started on the Birria tacos—straight-up fire, just like the ones on the mainland. If you’re in town and craving a flavor fiesta, MexiLulu is the move. 🌮🍕🔥

Did not know this place existed but so glad I found out it did! The nicest place to eat with amazing sunset! Drinks and food were absolutely amazing and it’s so hard to find good Mexican food on the island. The staff were so nice. Definitely try the Birria, the Tacos, and they even have an outdoor oven for pizza. Definitely coming back!

My wife and I have not been here since mexilulu opened up. Our go to is the Tower Bar since it is right on the water. We both really enjoy the Staff at the Tower Bar. They are so friendly , attentive , and also give our pups a water bowl when we stop by late at night for a quick bevy or 2. We ordered the Birria Quesadilla and the Mai Tai’s which are our usual. THE QUESADILLA , GUAC , PICO , BIRRIA SAUCE , ARE BOMB! We are constantly on the search for good Mexican food that has , fresh ingredients , rich flavor , appealing texture , and yes do not forget the heat. As we miss our Red and Green chili from New Mexico. This DID NOT DISAPPOINT. And instead of 1 we ended up ordering seconds of a Birria quesadilla plate. Mahalo for the amazing grinds and thank you for a new hot sauce for the quesadilla. It’s a wing sauce but it worked well. Mahalo again to the tower bar/Mexilulu staff. See you next round!

Consistency can be the best friend or the worst enemy of quality. A friend and I were pleased when this restaurant popped up as the pandemic slowed down. The outdoor seating, with a view of the harbor, provides a relaxing setting to enjoy a delicious meal, cooked by a very creative chef who brings a flair of Latin and South American flavor to Honolulu’s cuisine options. (What were those options before he arrived on the scene? There was a place in Chinatown long ago that went out of business…) The reason for the lack a five star review is 🥁🥁🥁 consistency. Sometimes the service is perFecT, as if this were a fine restaurant, and other times one is fortunate to be served water in the first 15 minutes of sitting down. I will say this-if Kieran serves you, you will be impressed! We look forward to returning!

A Mexican restaurant that is a bit more. Let's start by saying the service was exceptional. Our server really seemed to enjoy his job. Next the food. Everything from the ceviche to the Mexican salad and pozole were really tasty. And the portions were significant. From the bar the margaritas were bright and easy to drink. Also a descent selection of Tequilas. I will definitely be going back

Walked into Mexilulu and was greeted by the owner. Found out Mexilulu and Tower Bar are in the same place. Got to our table, our waitress greeted us normal said she would be back with waters and then take our order. Few minutes later manager come out, you can tell she's scolding our waitress (not in private)for what ever reason. Then we got another waitress and manager attendeding us. Total i think we had 4 different waitresses and the manager attending us. She scolded another waitress infront of every one and even brought out someone from the kitchen and scolded him in plan sight. It made the atmosphere uncomfortable and the place seem very unprofessional. I felt bad for the employees. Training should be done during non business hours and corrects in private. Aside from that my margaritas were good and the pizza was too.

We stumbled upon this gem wandering around the Aloha Towers area. It has changed a lot since my wife and I met working on a cruise ship 19 years ago. These were REAL tacos. I see a lot of reviews for places that have what I'd call "tourist tacos." i.e. they are better than the Old El Paso people make at home so anything better gets 5 star reviews. THESE tacos are seriously happenin. We got the carnitas and mahi mahi and they were just as good as the best we've had in Mexico. Great personalised service from both the owners and wait staff made the vibe great. They are doing a soft opening until they get fully staffed so everyone should come by and help them get on the map for tacos in Oahu.

Had great chips and tacos but the menu selection is somewhat limited. Not the best Mexican food on the island but the location is excellent and the service was fantastic.

This cute Mexican restaurant along the waters of Aloha Tower Marketplace is such a nice surprise. The decor is eclectic and the restaurant's theme revolves around a modern interpretation of traditional Mexican elements, prominently featuring Day of the Dead motifs with a contemporary twist. The food is delicious! Everything we had was very tasty. Try the Espresso Martini it’s to die for!
