A Slice of the Mediterranean in Honolulu

Stepping into Mediterraneo, you immediately trade the humid tropical breeze for the crisp, salt-kissed atmosphere of the European coast. This Honolulu dining spot captures the essence of the Mediterranean through a menu that prioritizes simplicity and high-quality imports. The dining room feels intimate, leaning into a rustic aesthetic that makes you forget you are just blocks away from the bustling Ala Moana corridor.

Signature Flavors and Culinary Craft

The kitchen leans heavily into traditional preparation methods. Their signature Tagliatelle al Tartufo is a standout, arriving at the table with the unmistakable, earthy perfume of fresh shaved truffles clinging to perfectly al dente pasta. If you prefer the bounty of the sea, the Branzino is filleted with precision, offering a delicate, flaky texture that pairs beautifully with their robust selection of crisp white wines from Italy and Greece.

Know Before You Go

The space is lively, often filled with the clinking of glasses and animated chatter, making it an excellent choice for a spirited date night or a long-overdue catch-up with friends. A minor observation for those driving in: the parking lot adjacent to the building fills up quickly during the dinner rush, so arriving a few minutes early or utilizing nearby street parking is a wise move. Whether you are craving a quiet glass of regional wine or a full-course feast, the staff here maintains an attentive pace, ensuring the water glasses are never empty and the bread basket remains warm.

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites in town when it was Mara, and now it’s completely mediocre. It went from a restaurant that happened to be in a hotel, to a hotel restaurant. DINNER The fish was fishy. The Frito Misto batter was heavy and SUPER greasy. The ulu chips on the Crudo were so greasy that they fell apart when I tried to eat them. The salad was good. And the portion sizes have gone down considerably. BREAKFAST The breakfast buffet is nice. They do a Japanese breakfast in addition to American, which is fun. Great manager/hostess. The service was friendly. The restaurant itself is very chic and comfortable. They offer complimentary valet or validated self parking.

Had to leave a review because the service is 10 out of 10. The staffs are super nice and friendly. Stayed at the hotel so we come here for breakfast every morning, the staff remembers our name from day one. The breakfast buffet is nice too. They have an Asian section where you can get miso soup, salmon, white rice and such. For fruit they have papaya and pineapple which are nice. Great place to try if you’re staying nearby!

What a great dinner! To be perfectly transparent, the service started off a little slow, took a long while to get our drinks. But once they got in the groove, WOW. The drinks were great, but the FOOD! So delicious! My husband and I split the farm salad, roasted chicken and the mushroom pasta. The tarragon dressing on the salad was so tangy and creamy~ yum! The chicken was cooked to perfection and I think the pasta was the best I’ve ever had. You don’t want to miss Sera on your trip to Honolulu!

We went to Sera twice during our vacation and had an amazing experience both times. Definitely order the pasta dishes, they use fresh pasta, so it’s chewy and has a great texture. We also loved the pita bread with the trio dip. The bread comes fresh out of the pizza oven and was so good on its own, and each dip paired perfectly with it. One of our favorite side dishes was the crispy Parmesan potatoes — super garlicky, cheesy, and the aioli on the side made them even better. For dessert, we had the baklava with pistachio ice cream, which was such a nice way to end the meal. Service was excellent throughout. Would absolutely come back again

Well, been here about three times now since it was changed to this new name "Sera". Breakfast buffet is not bad, same food serves every morning. I mean, how can you go wrong with salmon and rice and other brekafast items, and also the price is not bad for all that you get at breakfast. Anyway, service is almost perfect though. Hostess was friendly and seated us immediately. Our waitress was allover the place, we were served with a cup with someone else's lipstick on it, the waitress is forgetful and forget about what you order. Nothing I hate more than getting served a cold cup of coffee. Otherwise, all is well. Cheers

We were staying at the Renaissance Honolulu and the spouse wanted a quick breakfast, so we ordered room service. Turns out, Sera, the hotel’s main restaurant, supplies the food & beverage, not the hotel’s kitchen like in most places. IN ROOM DINING MENU: A handful of pricey selections for B/L/D from 7am till 9pm. Nothing overnight. FOOD: Two Eggs Any Style The plate came with a choice of meat, in which he chose Portuguese sausage, also crispy potatoes and wheat toast. It’s actually a hefty portion with the sides, but should be for the price. He also wanted a bowl of fruits which they did, off-menu. Unfortunately, there were no condiments (salt/pepper), no utensils and no napkins included. Luckily our room was equipped with silverware but of course not with condiments regardless of it having a kitchenette. We ordered this again the next day and asked for condiments, but still no utensils included again. Chicken Club Sandwich Not stated on the menu, this was served warm and toasted, with a big side of crispy fries. Comically enough, utensils came with this dish. SERVICE: Food was delivered in about 15 minutes in a takeout bag, not a room service tray. TIP: You cannot order off the In Room Dining menu inside the restaurant. OVERALL: Good food and portion sizes. Make sure to ask for condiments and utensils.

It was a pleasant dining experience. Food was great, of course a bit pricey. It would be even better to have more varieties to choose. Calamari tastes fantastic beyond my expectation as well as the zucchini chip which must eat right away to enjoy the taste. The dips of the trio was nice but the flat bread can be more exquisite. Kebab was very good! Would love to try more next time. ------- Above was my review for the first 2 times in 2024. However I no longer think it worth of 5 stars. The food still good but service becomes so slow and awkward. They gave me the wrong dishes for twice and third time they came only the with the right skewer with wrong salad. My colleagues even had to self serve deserts after the waitress left the whole plate with 30+ individual deserts. The plantation ice tea was without pineapple juice, they just came to fill it separately. It took an hour to get our appertizer trio with flat bread, another 1 hour to get our main dishes, another 40 minutes to get the deserts. 3.5 house spent for one meal eventually with lots of mistakes.

$44 per person for brunch menu. You select an app, entree, and dessert. Drinks are $16+. Appetizers alone were huge and decently pricey. We spent almost $250 for 3 people on a Sunday brunch. The vibes inside are great, the food was excellent, very clean, friendly service, drinks were tasty, and the presentation is what I expect for the price! It was truly and experience and we all enjoyed it for my moms birthday!

We attended for Mother's Day. The service was good but we had a reservation but needed to wait for our table at the bar for about 15 mins. I did not really enjoy my main meal due to the amount of grease on my plate. The Greek salad tasted good but there was not a lot to it. They validate for valet parking. I don't see a need to return but worth the visit to check it out.
