About
A Slice of the Mediterranean in Kaka'ako
Tucked away in the vibrant, artsy streets of Kaka'ako, Meataly Boys brings a high-energy, fast-casual approach to Middle Eastern comfort food. The air inside is thick with the savory, charred aroma of rotating shawarma spits and the zesty brightness of fresh lemon and garlic. It is the kind of spot where the music sits just a notch above conversational, giving the space a kinetic, urban pulse that matches the neighborhood's industrial-chic aesthetic.
The Art of the Skewer
At the center of the kitchen, the team masters the balance of spice and fire. Their signature plates feature tender, marinated proteins—often chicken or beef—that achieve that elusive char-to-moisture ratio. You will find their platters heaped with vibrant, house-made hummus, crisp falafel, and fluffy pita that arrives warm enough to cloud the windows. The flavor profiles lean heavy on traditional sumac and tahini, providing a distinct, authentic punch that stands out in Honolulu’s crowded food scene.
Local Notes and Nuances
If you are heading here during the weekday lunch rush, prepare for a bit of a dance; the narrow layout can get crowded quickly as the local creative class lines up for their fix. It is an ideal stop for a quick, high-quality bite after browsing the nearby murals or exploring the retail shops of SALT at Our Kaka'ako. While parking in the area requires a bit of patience—common for this pocket of Honolulu—the reward of a perfectly spiced lamb plate makes the search worth the effort.

Next time, read the reviews on Google Maps before eating at any place. I write a lot of reviews and in general I would read reviews. Unfortunately today, the place I wanted to go was closed (the burger place), so I just randomly picked this place, it was a mistake. This place would have been a solid 3* in California and probably even a 4* somewhere in Omaha; however with all the good food here in Oahu, this place should be rated a 2*. I had the beef and chicken combo. The chicken was dry and hard to chew (way overcooked), the beef was thinly sliced, so it wasn’t as bad as the chicken, but still cooked too long (need to do a better training of its cook); the macaroni salad was not good at al and certainly it can’t compare with some of the other local favorites in town. I actually broke three plastic forks trying to pick up the chicken, not joking. I can’t complaint about the quantity as it was enough for lunch. But the good thing is that the sitting area was very comfortable and relaxing, away from the businesses on the first floor. In case you are interested in its location, it is on the third floor, Building C of the Royal Hawaiian Center.

Ordered the loco moco. The patty was dry and chewy. The gravy tasted like it was made from an instant gravy pack. Disappointing experience for my first time having loco moco. The kimchi and the macaroni salad on the side was the saving grace for the dish.

Amazing experience at Meataly Boys! The quality of the meat was exceptional—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The portions were generous, and the service was friendly and attentive. If you’re a meat lover, this spot is a must-visit
