About
Kaimuki’s Go-To for Korean Comfort
Tucked away in the heart of Kaimuki, Me Bar-B-Que serves as a dependable cornerstone for locals craving generous portions of authentic Korean plates. This is not a place for white-tablecloth pretense; it is a straightforward, no-frills kitchen where the aroma of charred meats and fermented kimchi dominates the air the moment you step through the door.
The Flavor Profiles
The menu is anchored by classic, hearty staples. The meat jun—thinly sliced beef coated in a delicate egg batter—is a standout, offering a comforting texture that pairs perfectly with their house-made dipping sauce. Many regulars swear by the spicy chicken, which carries a steady, lingering heat that cuts through the savory richness of the side dishes. Every order arrives with a rotating selection of banchan, ensuring you get a crisp, acidic crunch alongside your heavier proteins.
The Neighborhood Character
The atmosphere leans heavily into the casual, bustling energy of a neighborhood diner. You will hear the rhythmic chopping of vegetables from the kitchen and the steady hum of chatter from tables packed with lunch-goers and families. Be mindful that the space can get quite tight during the peak lunch hour, and the small parking area in the front demands a bit of patience—a small price to pay for such consistent, soul-satisfying food. It is the kind of spot where your shirt might smell a bit like garlic for the rest of the afternoon, but the satisfaction level makes it entirely worth the trade-off.

Generous portions, freshly prepared, and great sides, a better deal than the bentos at grocery stores. Plenty of indoor seating. Best thing to get if you’re tired of sweet/fried meat is chicken jun

The most authentic and delicious Korean food in Waikiki! The food is quality and fresh. It’s my first stop ALWAYS on the island. You can walk here and enjoy the new location! I love that they open early. This is a MUST for Korean cuisine! Nice, big portions! Come hungry!

Crazy to experience a real life restaurant battle, I made sure to go to the “correct” location which is the newer building. Food was great, one of my favorite bbq chicken’s & a pretty unique Mac salad. Good prices for Waikiki, and fast + friendly service. Limited seating, but close enough to the condo I chose to do take out.

This darling little spot is on our must visit list. Not only is the food Ono-licious, the owner is very nice, appreciative and happy to please the customer with her delicious Hawaiian-Korean blend of food. It is so hard to get Meat Jun in Waikiki so we were elated to find this little bamboo covered gem. You pay a bit but portions are hearty. Even went back later in the day to get some Kalbi, very tasty as well. Can't wait to return. Don't be fooled by the copy cat place across the street, this is the real deal. Thank you!

This restaurant has very simple flavorful dishes that feature both local and international culinary profiles. The portion sizes are generous, so guests should come prepared with an appetite. The menu frequently changes, with many items unavailable due to daily variations in ingredients, especially for sides. Located within walking distance of most attractions along the beach front, the establishment provides open seating and tables for guests, ensuring a comfortable dining experience.

I chose to come here because the sign in the front said they are original Me BBQ. Their old location across the street is now me Bar-B-Q. Right away, I can see what's going on. Opportunist took advantage of it and became the imitation. No where it's going to be better than the original if you asked me. Just common sense. Korean is one of my favorites cuisine. From SF bay area, we have some of the best Korean food like LA. This place is legit! BBQ Spicy pork - The pork was very tender. The spiciness frankly to me was just subtle. Not that spicy at all. But the taste was really good. Not too sweet, well flavored and lover the grill flavor. BBQ chicken - It's not very thick, but the chicken does not feel dry. Very tender. I love the chap chae (noodle). Very well seasoned, perfect texture. The grilled potatoes were good as well. Honestly, I didn't try other places and they may be good as well. But if I found one of the best, why bothered risking disappointment. I came here two days in a row. And I may come again tomorrow.
