About
A Familiar Beat in Kalihi
Positioned right along N School Street, this McDonald's serves as a dependable landmark for commuters traveling through the heart of the Kalihi district in Honolulu. Whether you are grabbing a quick morning fuel-up before heading toward downtown or seeking a late-night bite after navigating the local traffic, this location maintains the classic golden arches consistency that residents recognize instantly.
Local Flavor and Everyday Reliability

The dining area is functional and efficient, perfect for those who need to catch up on emails or grab a swift meal without the fuss of table service. You will often hear the hum of the kitchen equipment and the steady flow of drive-thru customers, providing a backdrop of constant motion that defines a busy Honolulu transit artery.
Know Before You Go
One detail worth noting for those driving in: the parking area can get quite snug during the lunch rush. This restaurant is fine. The food is standard for a mcdonalds, except it does take much longer for it to actually come at this location. The top floor has a bunch of seating which used to be very well maintained but is now very dirty and run down. The bathrooms on the second floor are also dirty, so just eat on the first floor. The elevator was also broken when I got there one time. At least the parking was easy to find

Sexiest. Only women are allowed to use the bathroom. Men have to walk across the lot to the bar.

This McDonalds is not fast food. First, the parking and drive thru are nightmares! The logistics of getting into that drive thru line requires blocking traffic on Liliha and also requires gymnastics abilities that no car can do. I decided to go into the restaurant rather than get frustrated. Wrong move. It took me 10 minutes to order and another 25 minutes to receive my order then another 10 minutes trying to exit the parking lot by any exit possible. And that took place with 4 managers working the line. Not only was my order wrong, it did not include condiments or napkins. I’m not crazy enough to return the wrong order. I chalked it up to a total loss of one hour and a meal. Heed my warning and go elsewhere. Did I mention what I paid? It’s too obscene to mention in a PG review.

Check your bag before you leave the drive through. They will absolutely not get the order right. I had to go back in the store to ask from a cheeseburger that was missing, and stand there and wait while they tried to find a manager to talk to you. I ended up buying another cheeseburger because it was impossible to stay any longer. Drive a little further and go to a better McDonald's

I ordered an large iced caramel coffee for pickup, but when I got home and checked, it was just plain water. I was really shocked and frustrated.

I went to buy the chicken wraps cos it’s new from their menu. I like going to this place to grab a quick bite instead of going to the downtown location (which we don’t really like cos they are not nice and friendly). All staff here were very friendly, accommodating, has sense of urgency, I asked for extra bag and she gave me one without charging me. I forgot her name but I think that’s the manager. The only thing is that there are quite a few unhoused people are hanging-out outside the store. But other than that everything is good for me. Will keep coming back here.

During my few previous visits at this McDonald’s specifically, I would like to say that it was all disappointments. Whenever I would go there for lunch, dinner or just a soda, I realized that the Coca-Cola tastes super watery & that the syrup tastes funny too. It has been like that for a very long time. My visit today was not bad since I told the worker that the Coca-Cola from the soda fountain for customers tasted flat (watery), she just gave me a new one from their Kitchen’s soda fountain which tasted fine. Whenever I go to other McDonald’s in the State of Hawaii, their fountain soda isn’t always flat. If it was then the workers would fix it immediately! The First Floor smells like a urinal because of homeless people coming in and out.
