Late-Night Bites in the Heart of Kaka'ako

Step inside Masil Pocha and you are immediately transported away from the Honolulu humidity into the buzzing energy of a Seoul-style drinking tavern. The space captures that signature 'pocha' aesthetic—dim lighting, communal tables, and the clinking of metal chopsticks against heavy ceramic bowls. It is the kind of place that thrives after dark, where the air is thick with the scent of charcoal-grilled meats and spicy gochujang.

The Flavors of Seoul

The kitchen specializes in the art of the Korean bar menu. You haven’t truly experienced Masil until you have shared a plate of their signature spicy pork stir-fry or the classic kimchi pancake, which arrives with crispy, golden edges and a tender, steaming center. The menu favors bold, assertive flavors that pair perfectly with a cold bottle of soju. It is a fantastic spot for groups looking to share small plates and linger over long, loud conversations.

What to Expect

This local favorite is known for its unpretentious, high-energy atmosphere, making it a staple for those finishing a shift or heading out for a night on the town. A quick tip for first-timers: parking in this dense pocket of the city can be a bit of a puzzle, so plan to arrive a few minutes early or use a rideshare service to ensure a stress-free start to your evening. The acoustics lean toward the lively side—expect music and chatter to fill the room—but that is exactly what gives this Kaka'ako gem its authentic, late-night charm.

I usually come at quieter hours, good food and drinks. The fish cake soup, wings, and calamari are superb. The spicy wings are not that spicy more like sweet and tangy. A very chill and relaxed bar with Korean food during earlier hours. Ask for David and Peter they will take care of you

An unpretentious Korean bar in Waikiki. We came in the early evening so there were not a lot of patrons. There were minimal seafood options so I had the shrimp fried rice and seafood pancake. I requested for some kimchi as panchan and it was one of the best kimchi I had because it was homemade so I ended up purchasing a larger amount of kimchi to bring home. I hope they would consider selling their amazing kimchi in the future.

We had popcorn chicken, wings and fries and all was absolutely delicious. Also great, friendly and helpful service. Definitely recommend trying while in the area.
