Mark's Drive Inn
About
A Taste of Island History
Stepping into Mark's Drive Inn feels like a direct transport to mid-century Honolulu. Located right in the heart of the Kapahulu district, this spot serves as a cornerstone for locals craving authentic, no-frills Hawaiian comfort food. The air is perpetually heavy with the savory, charcoal-kissed scent of grilled meats, and the low hum of conversation mixes with the distant sound of traffic from the nearby thoroughfare.
What’s on the Tray?
The menu is a celebration of classic drive-in staples that define local Honolulu culture. Most visitors find themselves gravitating toward the hearty plate lunches, with the loco moco standing out as a consistent crowd favorite. You’ll find generous portions of beef patties smothered in rich gravy, served alongside perfectly scooped white rice and a side of creamy macaroni salad that hits that nostalgic, tangy note. The portions are substantial, designed for those who appreciate value and consistency over white-tablecloth pretense.
The Local Experience
This isn't a place for hushed tones or extended lingering. Expect a fast-paced environment where the line moves steadily despite the limited stall parking that often requires a bit of creative maneuvering. It’s the quintessential stop for beachgoers coming off the nearby sands of Waikiki or residents looking for a quick, satisfying meal that tastes like home. If you enjoy the raw, honest energy of a neighborhood institution that has prioritized flavor over flash for decades, Mark's Drive Inn is a mandatory stop on your Honolulu culinary tour.

Ordered a mini oyster sauce chicken for $9.50 I got a good portion of chicken rice and Mac salad. A hidden jewel in stadium Mall. Good taste, fast and friendly service. I wished they had a take out or online menu. That would be Customer focused. Go check them out.

The building, is terrible. Employees were good. By Chinese food was very good. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but the best I've had in a while. There's seating for about 18 people, but if you check the pictures, four of those seats are being used by empty junk boxes, so they're down to about 14. Maybe just get your food and go to a park. Is about $11 for a meal, and you got a lot of food. Probably the best value Meal I had in Hawaii
