About
A Fresh Take on Kaimuki Dining
Mala Market brings a refreshing, artisanal energy to the streets of Kaimuki. This neighborhood gem functions as more than just a place to grab a meal; it is a meticulously curated market and kitchen that prioritizes local sourcing and high-quality ingredients. Whether you are a local resident looking for a quick, wholesome lunch or a visitor eager to taste the produce grown right here on Oahu, this spot delivers a clean, modern experience.
The Culinary Focus
The kitchen leans into a rotating menu that reflects the current harvest. Expect vibrant, rainbow-hued grain bowls, thoughtfully prepared salads, and house-made dressings that highlight the tang of locally grown citrus. The signature approach here is simplicity—taking fresh greens, root vegetables, and island-caught proteins and letting the natural flavors carry the dish. You will often find the air filled with the scent of roasted garlic and fresh herbs as the team preps for the lunch rush.
The Setting
The atmosphere inside is bright, minimalist, and functional. It is a fantastic choice for a casual mid-day break or an easy grab-and-go dinner when you want something substantial but not heavy. Be aware that because of its popularity in the heart of the community, seating can fill up quickly during peak hours. If you find the few tables occupied, the nearby parks offer the perfect backdrop for enjoying your meal in the Pacific breeze. It is a no-frills, high-quality operation that fits perfectly into the laid-back, food-conscious culture of this Honolulu district.

I recently tried the Mala Delight sandwich, made vegan, at Mala Market, and it was truly excellent. This sandwich comes with a generous amount of fresh vegetables and includes vegan mayonnaise and avocado (without an extra charge). It's served with a side of potato chips. If you're looking for a good vegan meal, I recommend checking out Mala Market. The vegan Mala Delight sandwich is a solid choice.

This is my favorite place for a fast yet healthy lunch. The sandwiches are delish, service is friendly, and the view is second to none. I really enjoy watching the boats go by and the nice ocean breeze.🌴🦋🤙

This was such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the food we’d been eating in Hawaii. Delicious and healthy. Light. Easy on the stomach. Fresh, delicious veggies. Honestly soooo good!! I got the chicken wrap, my husband got the hummus wrap, and we shared the tomato basil soup. Comes with either chips or side salad. Everything was great! Service was super friendly too. The 2 dressings were icing on the top of the wraps! Plus nice outdoor seating by the water. Beautiful views. It’s can be tricky to find but if you see the walkway next to Panda Express go back there and it’s on the left.
