About

Discover Lu Lu's Waikiki, offering the best American experience in Waikiki. Enjoy Budget ($) meals, explore their menu, and read reviews from the community on TasteHi.

Front Row Seats to the Pacific

Perched directly above the rhythmic breaks of Waikiki Beach, Lu Lu's serves up a quintessential island experience. The open-air layout means you are constantly misted by the salty breeze while the sound of crashing waves provides the baseline for the restaurant’s buzzing, high-energy atmosphere. It is the kind of place where sandy flip-flops are the dress code and the transition from a sun-drenched lunch to a neon-lit nightlife spot feels entirely natural.

Island Classics and Heavy Pours

The menu leans heavily into local comfort food, with the Loco Moco being a undisputed heavyweight contender for those looking to fuel up after a morning in the surf. Expect generous portions of island-style fried rice and signature tropical cocktails that pack a punch. It is a favorite among travelers seeking a casual, no-frills environment to watch the sunset without the pretension of fine dining.

The Waikiki Pulse

While the panoramic view of Diamond Head remains the primary draw, the interior carries a retro, surf-shack charm that feels authentic to the neighborhood. Be prepared for a lively, sometimes raucous volume level, especially as the evening shifts toward happy hour and local musicians take the stage. Navigating the surrounding streets for parking can be a bit of a localized sport, so arriving early or choosing to walk from nearby resorts is a smart play. Whether you are grabbing a midday beer or staying late for the weekend entertainment, this Honolulu staple captures the kinetic, carefree spirit of life on the beach.

Here's a polished review you could post: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our family thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. Our waiter was pleasant, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. The food arrived promptly, hot, and beautifully plated. Our waiter was even kind enough to take a picture of our family. I ordered the chicken tenders with fries, which were very tasty and cooked perfectly. I also tried Lulu's Mai Tai, and I would highly recommend it—it was delicious and refreshing. Another big plus was that the restaurant was wheelchair accessible, which made our visit much more comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, we had a great experience and would gladly return.

I ordered the blackened salmon caesar plate and it was so delicious. The blue Hawaian drink was strong which is a plus for me! Our waiter Josh was awesome! He was very attentive and nice. I will definitely go again and enjoy their happy hour from 2pm-4pm Mon-Fri.

Have ya 🍞 💰 🤑 💸 up when u go here honey cuz 😬 😳 ...😆 🤣. Im pretty sure every dish was 20 up and sides hit a bit too... and almost everything is like separate. Like pancake plate, bacon plate, egg plate etc. I got the kids pancakes and they shared the bacon..it was too much..i probably should have just split an order for them.. 3 big pancakes each 😆!! They put it back as much as they could! Stuffed! They liked their smoothies. A burrito and steak plate were liked by my party. I had French toast and bought a separate plate that had bacon, eggs, and potatoes with toast, so I could eat a full meal. It WAS good!! But it was the most expensive place I ate down in Honolulu. But yea. Loved the waitress. Loved the vibe. Its up stairs to another restaurant. 20% gratuity 6+ folks. Check em out! ...oh yea birds fly in there 😆 🤣 u have to shoo em off a bit, but it wasn't too bad lol!

EXCELLENT FOOD! Dined here tonight for our son’s 11th birthday, booked seats at the railing overlooking Waikiki and it was wonderful. It was definitely bustling on a Saturday night at 7pm, lots of people and amazing live music, but they made room for us country mice and treated us well, all smiles and quick service. Thank you to our server (Molly I think was her name) for remembering us in the corner on such a busy night ❤️🤙🏻 The food was really good, portions so big I felt guilty I couldn’t eat more of it. The sweet chili cauliflower, jalapeno burger, fish n chips, and steak and potatoes did us right. Lovely atmosphere if you like being in the hustle and bustle. Mahalo to Lulu’s you made our sons bday very fun, especially with the complimentary scoop of gelato 😘

What a beautiful and stunning place! Not only is the location exquisite, but so is the food, drinks, and friendly service. Everyone here is very welcoming and carries the aloha spirit. The portions are huge and the prices are more than fair. There’s shade, a great view, and breeze. If you haven’t been, I recommend going ASAP. Or if you’re visiting adding this place as a MUST. Mahalo.

Had an amazing experience and if we had more time would come back repeatedly. All 3 of our dishes were perfectly executed. Our 3 drinks with the line up shots: exquisite. Ube cheesecake to top it off was phenomenal. Paulina was great and attentive and always checking up on us. Great talking with her and making sure we got everything we asked for. The person who brought out our food was also great. Multiple great views, food & service. Only thing would be to pick it up and take it back home

What an absolute gem of a place! Every single one of our dishes came out so delicious I wish I could eat everything else on the menu. I had the miso buttered fish and the sweet chilli crispy cauliflower. Both dishes were DELICIOUS! The sauce on the crispy cauliflower was amazing and the cauliflower was just the perfect amount of crisp. The fish paired super well with the mashed potatoes so definitely get the mash. Our waitress Lilly was literally the best!! Super nice, friendly, and spot on with the recommendations. She was an absolute delight to interact with and I’m so thankful she was our waitress. The atmosphere was amazing! They had live music going and the performers were great!! Played a bunch of great songs and contributed to the amazing vibe the place had going on. We’re only here for a week but we will probably be coming back again which I think says a lot. I think this place is definitely worth your time to come try, I highly recommend anyone in the area (or even if you’re far) to eat at this restaurant.

Amazing food and service. THE BEST BROWNIE. Great burgers and Pasta. The Poke Nachos and Poke were awesome. Price: you’re paying $30 for most entrees. A little pricey but worth it. Service was some of the best ever. I drank 6 cups of water and it never went empty. Perfect level of attendance with out overstepping or being over bearing. Jaamal and Sean were amazing staff.

Located on the second floor right on the corner of Kalakaua and Kapahulu next to the zoo, Lulu's Waikiki serves local fare all day with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. They have a wide variety of vegan and gluten free options and also has a large selection of cocktails, wine, beer, mocktails. Came for breakfast and ordered the avocado toast with avocado, arugula, bean sprouts, tomato, feta cheese, lemon on sourdough and the Lulu Moco with wagyu beef patty and Kalua pork with two eggs and onion gravy topped with green onions. Both were delicious breakfast options. We were able to be seated right on the window with great views of the beach and Kalakaua avenue. Slight downside with the window seating is BEWARE of the pigeons. When they fly away, their feathers make their way to your eating area. Probably not the best scenario but there are spikes to prevent the birds from landing but there is still enough of an landing area for them to sit perched on the balcony area. Other than that, service was good and food was delicious and views were great! Parking is limited and can find street parking at kapiolani park or at the zoo. Kaptiolani Park meter parking is cheaper so try park there first.

Big servings, wide range of meals, I think they cater for everyone here! I ordered Caesar salad with prawns, spicy margaritas & chocolate fudge dessert. Wow! The dessert was so delicious! Others had burgers & fries. Tasty lunch! Served reasonably quickly too. Fantastic servers & hospitality. Would not hesitate to dine or drink here again! The hungry pigeons can be persistent. Think they know how good the food is too!
