Good local food. Regular katsu chicken was huge and really tasty. Garlic chicken was a little dried out. Friendly and fast service.

Usually when I PAY FOR THE 3$ ADDON of fried rice it is supposed to be way more rice. They are not consistent with their portions. 16 dollar plate that already has the meat and then sides but if you substitute the sides with fried rice addon then it should be more. Rice is already cheaper than the other sides so paying extra for that swap out should give more rice. This is way less than the last several times I ordered this same exact dish.

We have ordered from here regularly for a long time, but unfortunately this experience has made us decide not to return. I placed an online order for pickup and included specific instructions requesting that the rice and mac salad be packed separately from the entrée. We also included other special instructions for the plates, as we have done successfully in the past. Before leaving the restaurant, I checked the order and noticed that the rice had not been packed separately as requested. When I brought this to the cashier's attention, the manager raised his voice and told me that the mac salad was separate, then pushed the plate back toward me. I showed him the order receipt, which clearly stated that both the rice and mac salad were to be on the side. After looking at the receipt, he acknowledged the mistake. The manager then had the cook remove the rice from the plate and pour the curry into a separate container. Unfortunately, the curry was now mixed with rice. When I explained that I did not want rice mixed into the curry, the manager took it back again and began picking individual grains of rice out of the container. I requested that a new order be prepared instead, but was then told they were sold out. What made this even more disappointing is that this is not the first time I have experienced rude or dismissive behavior from this manager. I have overlooked it in the past because we enjoyed the food and were regular customers, but this interaction was enough to make us reconsider supporting this business. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What matters is how they are handled. The order instructions were ignored, and when I brought the issue to their attention, I felt dismissed rather than valued as a customer. As a long-time customer, I expected a more professional and respectful response.

very friendly environment here. I got recommendations to come here and I am glad I did. I love to support locally. the portion size is amazing and so much food for great price. I really like that they have a lot of options. I definitely recommend coming here! I ill definitely come back as well.

Garlic Shrimp special was pretty good. Shrimp was overcooked but still had good flavor. Mac salad is some of the best.

Solid quick meal. The burger and the salt and pepper shrimp were delicious. Service moved a little slow. The price was high at $42 for two burgers and one entree, but not unusual for the area. Seating was limited and waiting outside was uncomfortable due to flies landing on us. Even with the wait and the flies, the food was strong enough to make this a good stop if you need a fast meal nearby.

We stopped by Loco Moco Drive Inn and ordered the chili cheese fries, New York steak, and BBQ short ribs. The portions looked big at first, but most of the plate was rice, about half the dish, plus two large scoops of mac salad. The protein portions were on the smaller side, which was a little disappointing for the price. Flavor-wise, everything was decent. The steak and ribs were okay, but not particularly memorable. The chili tasted more like a meat sauce than a real chili, and it even had bell peppers in it (which was unexpected). Overall, not bad if you’re craving a quick local-style plate, but I wish the portions were balanced a bit better and the chili had more of that classic flavor.

Was excited to try the new restaurant chain in Kapahulu today for lunch. They’re running a grand opening 20% off special currently. Tried the make your own plate (mochiko chicken & garlic shrimp). I was very disappointed with the flavor of both the mochiko chicken and the Mac salad. The mochiko chicken was flavorless and borderline dry. The Mac salad was bland and mushy. The garlic shrimp was decent, but with only 5 pieces, it failed to carry the plate. Even at 20% off, this was a huge miss. The Hawaii Kai Loco Moco location has far superior mochiko chicken. I hope this was just a grand opening snag, and I wish nothing but the best for them~
