Lin's Hawaiian Snacks
About
A Taste of Island Nostalgia
Tucked away from the high-rise bustle of Waikiki, Lin's Hawaiian Snacks has become a quintessential stop for those hunting down the true flavors of Honolulu. This isn't your typical souvenir shop; it’s a focused emporium of local cravings. The air inside carries the distinct, sharp scent of li hing mui—that addictive salty-sweet plum powder that defines island snacking—mingling with the toasted, nutty aroma of fresh macadamia nuts.
The Li Hing Mui Experience
The main draw here is the sheer variety of dried goods. Shelves are lined with an extensive collection of preserved seeds, gummy bears coated in that iconic red powder, and dried seafood snacks that provide a satisfying crunch. Whether you are looking for cut mango, lemon peel, or the classic gummy worms with an extra kick, the selection is vast. It’s the kind of spot where locals pull over for a quick bag of treats before heading to the beach or hitting the road toward the North Shore.
What to Expect
The atmosphere is strictly functional and utilitarian. Do not expect fancy decor or sprawling aisles; this is a place to grab your favorites and get back to your adventure. You might notice the aisles are quite narrow, making it a bit of a dance when it gets busy, but that’s part of the authentic charm. It is the perfect stop for anyone craving a genuine slice of Hawaii's snack culture, far removed from the polished tourist traps. If you find yourself driving through the residential heart of the city, pop in to stock up on supplies—your taste buds will appreciate the bold, traditional seasonings that make Lin's a local staple.

So many drink and dessert options! Really reasonably priced shaved ice for smooth ice. Very sweet flavorings for the azuki bean ice (brown sugar flavored) with tons of toppings. Lots of candy, li hing mui dried fruits, and local Hawaiian snacks like furikake mix and root chips. There are also different size options and you can sample if you ask! Service is great! There’s only 2 outdoor seats and a bench for seating so if you get ice cream or shaved ice, it’s tough to find a spot nearby to enjoy it.

The best shave ice on the island. Staff friendly. Old school crackseed. Price is reasonable.
