Lewers Lounge in Honolulu is honestly one of the best piano lounges I’ve been to in a long time. Elegant, cozy, intimate, exceptional cocktails, beautiful music, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay all night. Truly classy without trying too hard. But there’s one thing that surprisingly takes away from the entire experience , the lighting design. Almost every table seems to have a direct spotlight hitting guests straight in the face. No matter where you sit, it feels harsh and uncomfortable after a while. In a luxury lounge setting, lighting should feel warm, flattering, soft, and immersive… not like an interrogation lamp during cocktails. It’s such a small fix for a place that otherwise feels close to perfect. Adjusting the spotlight angles or softening the overhead lighting would completely elevate the experience from “great lounge” to truly world-class piano bar ambiance. Still one of the most beautiful lounges in Honolulu — just hoping management eventually addresses the lighting because the place deserves it.

A diamond in the rough, secret little corner near the other big restaurants. It’s a nice place to relax and have light conversation. Brings you back to jazz times with velvet chairs and dim lighting. Food is wonderful but light. Pianist is funny and entertaining. Bartender Jackie was attentive and helpful with explaining the menu and making my experience enjoyable. She was a good conversationist and made sure I was assisted in a timely manner. Ask her to surprise you with drinks! I walked in to enjoy the bar, if you have a group make a reservation days ahead of time.

We celebrated our 17th anniversary at Lewers Lounge for the first time, and it could not have been a more magical evening. The ambiance instantly transports you back to another era — elegant, intimate, and full of that classic 1920s lounge feel. Johnny Kukui was absolutely phenomenal. Watching him seamlessly loop guitar tracks while playing piano and singing was honestly mesmerizing. The level of talent and musicianship was incredible, and he completely elevated the night into something unforgettable. The drinks were outstanding, the cheese plate was perfect, and the coconut cake was one of the best desserts we’ve had in a long time. A special thank you to Katie, who took such wonderful care of us throughout the evening and made the experience feel even more special. Everything about the night felt effortless, romantic, and memorable. We are so grateful we chose Lewers Lounge for our anniversary celebration, and we will absolutely be back.

As someone who lives in Hawaii, we are limited in Jazz Lounges so this place is top notch. If you’re a jazz lounge frequenter you may have a different opinion. Me missus and I love to come to conclude a date night. Intimate setting, classy cocktails, dress code enforced, bidets in the bathroom (love em lol), quality music.

This lounge/restaurant is opulent even for Waikiki standards. Maybe the most “royal vibe” on Oahu. Dark setting with rich colors and soft vibes. Amazing bar, piano player/singer, and some food options. The meat charcuterie was nice size. It’s a great upscale place for a late nite cap to another day in paradise. VictorB

I recently visited Lewers Lounge in Waikīkī, located inside the Halekulani hotel along Kālia Road. Among the many bars and nightlife spots in Waikīkī, Lewers Lounge stands apart as a refined venue centered on live jazz, elegant cocktails, and a more intimate evening atmosphere. The atmosphere immediately feels sophisticated and timeless. The lounge is designed with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and a layout that keeps the stage as the focal point of the room. Unlike louder nightlife venues nearby, the environment here encourages quiet conversation and attentive listening while musicians perform. The setting feels polished but still relaxed, which fits naturally with the luxury hospitality associated with Halekulani. Live jazz performances are the highlight of the experience. Talented musicians perform throughout the evening, creating a soundtrack that ranges from classic standards to contemporary jazz interpretations. The quality of the music adds depth to the entire evening and transforms the lounge into a true listening venue rather than simply a bar with background entertainment. The beverage program emphasizes well-crafted cocktails and premium spirits. Drinks are prepared with care, complementing the upscale environment and slower pace of the lounge. Service during the visit felt attentive and professional. Staff maintained a high level of hospitality while allowing guests to focus on the music and overall experience. From a global travel perspective, Lewers Lounge reminded me of intimate jazz lounges I have encountered in cities such as New York, Tokyo, and Paris where live music, craftsmanship, and atmosphere combine to create a memorable night out.

Came for the live jazz. Stayed for the coconut cake! Whenever we’re in town, this is our favorite spot for a night cap. It’s classy and quiet, especially compared to other late night spots on the main drag. We’re talking dress code and bartenders in white jackets classy. The atmosphere is dark, rich, and elegant. The service is attentive without being obtrusive to the vibes. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. I love that the cocktails are named after jazz standards (and also delicious) but my goodness I would fly to Honolulu and back just to have a slice of that coconut cake. It’s a little tricky to find if you don’t know your way but hang in there - there’s cake at the end!
