La Pizza Rina
About
A Slice of Italy Under the Honolulu Sun
When you find yourself wandering the bustling corridors of Honolulu, the scent of bubbling mozzarella and charred dough might lead you straight to La Pizza Rina. This neighborhood staple cuts through the typical island fare, offering a focused menu that prioritizes thin-crust, wood-fired traditions over unnecessary fusion.
The Atmosphere
Stepping inside, the space feels intimate and no-frills. It is the kind of spot where the heat from the oven warms the air, and the clatter of ceramic plates against marble-topped tables provides a steady, comforting rhythm. It is perfectly suited for a casual weeknight dinner or a quick, satisfying bite after a long day of navigating local traffic. Be prepared: the seating is cozy, which means you will likely become acquainted with the conversations of your neighbors, but that is part of the local charm.
What to Expect on the Table
The culinary approach here is straightforward. The kitchen focuses on high-quality ingredients, resulting in pizzas that boast a satisfying crunch and a light, airy crust. The signature pies often feature fresh, aromatic basil and savory tomato sauce that tastes like a summer harvest. While the menu leans traditional, the kitchen is known for its consistency and attention to the blistering of the crust. It is a no-nonsense dining experience that lets the quality of the dough and the tang of the cheese take center stage.
Parking in this part of town can be a bit of a puzzle, so arrive with a little patience or choose to walk if you are already exploring the nearby urban center. Whether you are a resident of Honolulu looking for a dependable pizza night or a visitor craving a familiar, well-executed slice, this spot offers a reliable, sensory-driven experience that keeps the community coming back.

La Pizzeria is quintessential—the moment I walked in, I knew I'd found exactly what I was looking for. Exposed brick on the walls and visible in throughout, creating an authentically charming atmosphere that sets the tone perfectly. The pizza itself is wonderful. I ordered the large pizza half tomato and basil, half pepperoni, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. The dough was incredibly soft, the toppings were vibrant and fresh, and the balance was spot on—like Goldilocks, everything was just right. What also struck me was looking around at what other diners were enjoying—every menu item coming out of the kitchen looked absolutely delicious. It's clear they maintain a high standard across their entire menu, which means I'll definitely be back to try their other menu offerings.

Fabulous little place with great Pasta and Pizza. Must tries are the Combination pizza, mushroom ravioli, spaghetti with meat sauce and two meatballs. Parking is in the back of the restaurant and the service is quick. Definitely, will be back soon.

There's a lovely little Italian restaurant on King Street that you should definitely check out. The food is not only delicious but also very reasonably priced. The staff are friendly, and everything is made fresh when you order it. This cozy spot has a great variety of dishes, including classic pizzas, tasty appetizers, hearty salads, and sub sandwiches. My favorite dish to order is the antipasto salad along with a small la pizza Rina specialty combo.

Everything was so delicious. Beyond our expectations. Salad was fresh and the dressing was refreshing, the right amount of acid and great balance. Pasta with meatballs was amazing. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce and meatballs were seasoned nicely. We sprinkled the chili flakes and it added great kick. We also got medium crust pizza with cheese and mushrooms, it was delicious. The crust was not burnt but it got good crisp to it! We ended up taking some home and even after reheating it was still delicious! We use print paper to place the pizza on top. Oven set to 400° and reheat for 4 mins.

I am not kidding when I say this is one of the most fresh and flavorful pizzas I have ever had in my travels. My friend and I came here multiple times. You can customize everything about the pizza, from toppings to crust thickness. It's a small and quiet spot, no music playing, just perfect. The pizza isn't drenched in oil, the crust is super crispy, and the ingredients taste fresh as can be. Now I must return to the mainland with a La Pizza Rina shaped hole in my heart...
