About
Morning Staples in the Heart of Salt Lake
If you find yourself navigating the busy streets of Salt Lake near Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, the golden-hued, buttery aroma drifting from Koa Pancake House is hard to miss. This local institution has built its reputation on straightforward, no-nonsense island comfort food that speaks to the daily rhythm of Honolulu residents.
What’s Cooking
The menu leans heavily into the classics that make Hawaii breakfasts iconic. You will find their signature macadamia nut pancakes topped with a generous pour of coconut syrup—a combination that defines the local palate. For those craving something savory, the Portuguese sausage and eggs plate provides that familiar, smoky saltiness expected at a reliable island-style diner. The portions are substantial, designed to fuel a long morning, whether you are heading to the office or spending the day at the beach.
The Salt Lake Experience
The atmosphere inside this Valkenburgh Street location is functional and fast-paced. It serves a diverse crowd of military personnel, local families, and commuters looking for a quick, hot meal. Because it is a hub for the surrounding community, expect a lively buzz of conversation and the steady clatter of plates. Pro tip: The parking lot here can be exceptionally tight during the mid-morning rush, so be prepared to navigate a few crowded lanes if you arrive on a weekend. It is the kind of place where the service is efficient and the focus remains entirely on getting that first cup of strong, hot coffee into your hand as quickly as possible.

Stopped her after baptism this morning for a late breakfast. I ordered the strawberry French toast not knowing what I was getting myself into.. omg that portion size. It was very good the only problem was I couldn’t finish it. I was too full…

Wonderful experience! The variety of food was surprising and the deliciousness was even better. Jordan (just like the shoes) was a friendly ambassador for the establishment and was incredibly friendly and helpful. Thanks. I'll see you again, soon.

My son wanted to go to his regular breakfast spot when he was stationed in Hawaii so we hit up Koa Pancake House in Moanalua. I got Portuguese sausage, rice and eggs and my son got blueberry pancakes. Both were pretty good, portions and prices were also good. This was an order at the front and seat yourself restaurant. The staff was nice and the restaurant itself was nicely decorated. We recommend this as a good place to get breakfast quick with good food and prices…

Insane value for the portion size! I got the combo with scrambled eggs, links, and macadamia pancakes while my friend got the omelette with strawberry pancakes. The combo is definitely shareable between two people, because we ended up having a lot of leftovers. The macadamia pancakes are perfectly fluffy, and the eggs were super light.

Ordered eggs, bacon & sautéed veggies, this does not look appetizing or appealing to eat at all. Food here is not cooked consistently. I feel like I wasted my money.

Macadamia nut pancakes were amazing! Scrambled eggs were great. Early bird special was for 2 eggs and a short stack of pancakes for $6.50 plus $2.50 for the upgraded pancakes was a steal deal! I was expecting the short stack of pancakes to be half the size they were! Blueberry pancakes were good too. Service was friendly!

With this being my first time in Koa Pancake House, it's bustling and very busy, especially in the morning, like it's just about nearly a full House in here with how many people were seated. Waited a bit to take pictures inside, but I was also very hangry (hungry and angry) because I didn't eat first thing in the morning and that was my fault. So my fiance suggested we go Koa Pancake house since it's near my parents place and we were staying over to help them out. I love the food here, cuz obviously you get to choose from breakfast styled plates, and like most foods, it's delicious, it's just a hawaiian styled resturaunt. :) But I would definitely come here again for breakfast. Oh yes! And they have outdoor seating as well! Along with A/C in the building. My only gripe, is that I don't like the paper plates. Even though, I understand that saves on washing plates and creates more trash to just easily throw out for in and out service of a quick bite to eat and leave. But that's minor comparatively. The service here is also nice and quick and I do suggest this as a place to stop by and eat. Especially if you were like me and craving for a breakfast meal. :3 Please come try the local Koa pancake house! 🥞 🏠

I came for the French toast within an hour before closing, so the team was all cleaning the dining room. They were all very nice. The French Toast didn't disappoint, and the potatoes were on point, I didn't think the steak omelet was as good as the other food mentioned. I'm not a fan of eating on paper plates and plastic cutlery. The portions are enormous! I would visit this place again.
