About
A Neighborhood Staple for Korean Comfort
Tucked away in the heart of Honolulu, Kim Chee 2 serves as a no-frills sanctuary for those seeking honest, punchy Korean flavors. This isn't a place for white tablecloths or lengthy explanations; it is a utilitarian dining room where the rhythmic clatter of metal chopsticks against plastic bowls provides the soundtrack to your lunch. The air is thick with the savory, pungent aroma of fermentation, a clear indicator that their house-made kimchi is the star of the operation.
The Main Attraction
Regulars know to skip the fluff and head straight for the meat jun—thinly sliced beef dipped in an egg batter and pan-fried until golden. It arrives piping hot, accompanied by a side of dipping sauce that balances salt, heat, and a hint of sweetness. For those bracing against a humid Hawaii afternoon, the spicy soft tofu stew, or sundubu-jjigae, delivers a necessary kick. The broth is deep red and oily, bubbling violently when it hits the table, laden with tender silken tofu and bits of pork that soak up the intense garlic base.
The Honolulu Experience
If you visit during the peak lunch rush, expect a quick turnover and a bit of a squeeze at the tables. The fluorescent lighting and modest decor keep the focus entirely on the plates. It is the kind of spot where you might have to navigate a tricky parking stall or wait a few extra minutes for a seat, but the efficiency of the kitchen staff keeps the line moving. Ideal for a quick workday refueling or a low-key dinner, Kim Chee 2 remains a reliable cornerstone for local residents who prioritize flavor density over flash. Whether you are craving the fermented crunch of their signature sides or a comforting bowl of soup, the kitchen delivers a consistent, unpretentious slice of Korean-Hawaiian food culture.

Best Korean, family style restaurant. It hasn't changed in taste in 10 years. Quality food, homey atmosphere. Always very happy to eat here!

Came here twice and the first time they were doing take out only. We managed to get a sit down table the second time and enjoyed our food. We got the kalbi and meat Jun. Portions were big and it was tasty. It's a decent place if you're in the area but I probably wouldn't make a trip just to eat here

I found the food just okay. Think being from L.A. Korean food is just on another level. While the food here was very generous in portion and okay but it wasn’t anything special in terms of taste. Service and vibe on the other hand was really attentive and accommodating. They’re kind and welcoming. Would come back just for the service.
