Kickin Kajun Restaurant
About
A Messy, High-Energy Crab Shack Experience
Forget the silverware. At Kickin' Kajun, the table is your plate, and your hands are your primary tools. Located right in the heart of Honolulu, this spot strips away the pretense of fine dining to focus entirely on the chaotic, flavorful joy of a traditional low-country boil. The scent of garlic butter and heavy Cajun spice hits you the moment the door opens, acting as a siren song for anyone craving a serious seafood fix.
Signature Spice and Island Freshness
The kitchen specializes in customizable boils where you pick your catch—ranging from snow crab legs and succulent shrimp to crawfish—and drown them in their signature 'Kickin' sauce. It is a bold, citrusy, and spicy emulsion that clings to every crevice of the shellfish. Don't be surprised if the kitchen runs out of specific seasonal items by the late evening; the turnover is high and the inventory moves fast. If you enjoy a bit of heat, ask for the 'extra hot' spice level, but be prepared for the lingering tingle on your lips.
The Honolulu Seafood Vibe
The interior echoes the sound of metal buckets hitting tables and the constant rhythmic cracking of shells. It is loud, it is bright, and it is unapologetically casual. You will be wearing a plastic bib by the end of the meal, which is honestly the hallmark of a successful night here. Be mindful that parking in this part of the city can be an exercise in patience, so arrive a little early or use a ride-share if you plan on indulging in their ice-cold beer selection to balance out the spice. Perfect for a raucous group dinner or a date where you want to skip the formalities and just enjoy good food.

We had the Alligator, Wings and fried Oysters. A different experience with Alligator but pleasant all the same. Wings were boneless 👌 didn't know so they were extra good. Oysters were juicy. Chips were all seasoned different so we could try as much as possible. They have a house flavour that is yummm ... we also did their mini boil as takeaway. Am sure it's best had onsite or asap from pickup. Got the x20 spice sauce and just wish it was hotter but still tasted great.

We went here based on the positive reviews and our love for Cajun seafood. However, we were deeply disappointed by the food. We ordered the local shrimp with their house sauce and some vcorn and sausages. 1. The shrimp was rubbery and clearly not fresh 2. The sauce quantity was very tiny. We had to scrape the bottom of the plastic to get any flavor The service was prompt and nice. However the terrible food completely took away from the experience. Would not recommend at all

Delicious seafood. We got take out through the online order, I highly recommend getting a baking dish or bowel to put it all into. I loved the size of the bags and the service was great! I liked how there was a separate door for those getting take out. Online ordering was very easy and straigh forward. I wouldn't call the restaurant Autism friendly because of the music level and the cracking of shells, but that isn't on the restaurant. Take out is a perfect alternative. 5 stars! Thank you!

I ate here while on vacation I'm Oahu and I just loved it. It's very clean and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious and it was definitely worth the cost. I spent a little more and splurged but it was worth it. Cheers

We loved this place. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for what we were getting. The interior decoration was simple but somehow warm and inviting anyway. Nui was a fantastic server and he took great care of my mom and I. He cracked open our lobster for us and took the time to explain how to do it. We both loved him. I'd recommend getting the combo if you have two or more people. It sounds like an excessive amount of food, but they really did a good job perfectly proportioning the group meals.

King Crab was delicious. A must get item. Wings and shrimp that were both fried were also an item to order.

It was even more delicious than expected. Our family of three ordered the Snow Crab Legs Combo and added extra shrimp. Both the snow crab and shrimp were tasty, and the portion size was just right. Parking is available in the lot in front of the building, and you can get your ticket validated. There’s plenty of parking space. The restaurant is clean, and the staff are friendly. A Korean staff member is available, making it easy for Korean visitors to order. There’s also a handwashing station inside the restaurant, which is very convenient after the meal. I highly recommend giving it a try!
