Katsumidori Sushi Tokyo
About
A Slice of Tokyo in Waikiki
Stepping into Katsumidori Sushi Tokyo brings the high-energy pulse of Japan’s famous conveyor belt dining to the heart of Honolulu. Located in the bustling Waikiki shopping district, this spot strips away the pretense of traditional omakase, replacing it with a fast-paced, interactive experience where the plates do the talking.
The Conveyor Belt Experience
The centerpiece of the room is the revolving track, constantly replenished by chefs who slice sashimi with surgical precision. The kitchen focuses heavily on freshness, with signature items like the fatty tuna (toro) and seared salmon belly frequently gliding by. You will notice the rhythmic clatter of porcelain plates and the muffled chatter of tourists and locals alike; it is a lively environment that leans into the casual, grab-what-you-crave nature of kaiten-sushi.
Quick Bites and Local Perks
Because the pace is rapid, it is an ideal destination for those who want a quality sushi fix without committing to a two-hour sit-down meal. While the efficiency is excellent, keep in mind that the counter seating fills up quickly during the evening rush. It is a fantastic option for families or solo diners looking to sample a variety of nigiri without the pressure of a full-course menu. Pro tip: Don't let the simplicity fool you; the texture of the vinegared rice and the temperature of the fish remain top-tier, reflecting the brand’s deep-rooted Tokyo heritage.

Group of us was able to get the last reservation at this restaurant that is usually booked weeks in advance. Also, highly suggest not to walk in. They get too crowded. Best to get reservations in advance. Keep in mind, last reservations is not the best. You are required to stay within your time limit and the restaurant closes. 90 mins for each reservation. Once you are seated, order fast, because they will last call a certain time before the end. Unlike before, they now use the tablet to order. I dont like it. In reference to the menu, you take alot of time to search for specific items. Its a pain, very confusing, and I dont like it at other sushi restaurant that use it. Good atmosphere but the restaurant needs improvement. The adhesion on the ceiling veneer seems to be failing. Minor thing noticed in the private room off to the right of the entrance. Food was good, still consistent from the last time I visited...which was before covid. The dragon looking roll was pretty fancy, a show off piece. But the eel wasnt properly cooked, the head end was a bit chewy, under cooked. The premium ahi, the salmon cream cheese roll was good, variety of tempura and fried chicken was good. Overall, the group enjoyed the restaurant. I thought it was not bad, but i probably wouldn't go back. Overpriced and not enjoyable as I recalled in the past. Maybe i thought too highly of this restaurant in the past. Now its just okay for me.

Amazing food and service. The fish was extremely fresh. Best sushi I’ve ever had. Love that they do half orders so you can taste more things too! Please do yourself a favour and go!

I don't eat fish or seafood, but this was my 2nd visit with friends that do. They offer fried chicken and two options for beef tenderloin rolls for people like me that don't eat fish. The tenderloin is cut into thin strips and is braised with a torch similar to some of the other fish selections--very tender. The fried chicken wings were great as well and were fried more crispy than your typical wings. Seasoning was great.

Best sushi in Honolulu located in the beautiful Prince Waikiki hotel. Our waiter Tomo was great, he made suggestions and was very attentive. The conveyor belt delivery was fun and a first for me. The food was very traditional and prepared beautifully. The butterflies collar was so tasty and the miso soup had pieces of fish to pick on. Fried oysters were succulent and the sake pairing was on point. This is a must try when you are in Honolulu.

Everything I had (All 3 times in 11 day vacation) was perfect, fresh and AWESOME! I don't understand the other reviews. I had the sea urchins and they were fresh. I tried several different items and several different drinks during my 3 times here and everything was made in front of me and EVERYTHING was perfect. Haters be Damned!

We had gone here three years ago and had a really good experience. At that time, my husband loved his sushi platter. So this time I did not even read recent reviews because we already had a great experience from our previous trip. However, my husband was extremely disappointed with his sushi platter this time around. It was very fishy. Other places that we ate during this trip were able to make it so that there was no fishy smell. I had a tendon lunch set and that one was pretty standard. It was disappointing, though since my husband sushi platter was very expensive and then it wasn’t good at all.

We received no service throughout our visit — we had to order everything through the tablet, and no one came by to refill water or check on us. The sea urchin wasn’t very fresh, though the fried chicken was quite good. The sashimi dish was also enjoyable, and the atmosphere was nice. Overall, however, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

This place offers an excellent sushi experience with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. The sashimi platter was diverse and flavorful, the uni hand roll was rich and creamy, and the anago was perfectly tender. However, the wait time was a bit long, and the service, while good, could have been more attentive. Overall, a fantastic spot for high-quality sushi at a reasonable price—just be prepared for a slight wait during peak hours!
