About
A Modern Take on Island Traditions
Tucked away in the vibrant culinary landscape of Honolulu, Kahiau Poke & Provisions shifts the focus back to the raw, unadorned beauty of Pacific seafood. The atmosphere here is purposefully stripped back—think industrial concrete floors and bright, natural light that reflects off the display case, highlighting the vivid crimson of ahi and the deep greens of fresh limu.
The Craft of the Bowl
Unlike the heavy-handed, mayo-laden versions found in tourist hubs, the kitchen at Kahiau treats poke as a fine art. The signature bowls lean into clean, traditional preparations where the quality of the line-caught fish does the heavy lifting. You will encounter generous cubes of tuna seasoned with precise applications of Hawaiian sea salt, toasted kukui nut (inamona), and just enough sesame oil to provide a nutty foundation without masking the oceanic sweetness of the catch.
What to Expect
This is the kind of spot where locals duck in for a quick, high-quality lunch during the workday. The space feels intimate and communal, though keep in mind that seating is limited—it is largely a grab-and-go destination for those heading toward the nearby beach parks or back to the office. The soundscape is usually just the rhythmic thwack of a knife against a wooden board and the hum of the cooling units, reinforcing the focus on speed and freshness. If you are exploring the Kaka'ako area or wandering through downtown Honolulu, this is the destination for a bowl that honors the roots of Hawaiian provisions while keeping the menu sharp, seasonal, and entirely focused on the catch of the day.

I tried the Spicy Ahi & Kahiau Special and I loved both! Their spicy ahi is more on the sweeter side with unagi sauce drizzled on top (I think). I loved how their Kahiau special had lots of onions and limu! I totally forgot to order their poi and will need to try that next time. Very sweet staff! Cute hole-in-the-wall shop with just a counter to order the food and go. Street parking & a (paid)parking lot near by. Will be back - Mahalo!!

Wow. This place is so ono! I have tried to go to this location near the end of their open times to see that they were closed because they had already sold out. Now I know why. This poke was so fresh and flavorful. I couldn't stop eating it! Got the Cold Ginger Ahi and Kahiau Special. Definitely worth every penny. A 10 out of 10 would recommend.

This food truck park was my first stop when getting to Maui. The Hawaiian Poke bowl was amazing, the service incredible and the atmosphere equally great!
