About
A Slice of Old-School Honolulu
Tucked away from the polished resort corridors, K S Market is where the real work happens. This is a classic, no-frills neighborhood stop that serves as a cornerstone for locals craving honest food in the heart of Honolulu. Stepping inside feels like a transition into a simpler time, where the hum of a buzzing refrigerator and the scent of seasoned proteins grilling on the flat-top define the experience.
Why Locals Keep Coming Back
While the exterior is unassuming, the kitchen masters the art of the traditional Hawaiian plate lunch. The menu rotates through staples like crispy chicken katsu, tender teriyaki beef, and hearty servings of macaroni salad that hit the perfect balance of creamy and tangy. It is the ideal pitstop for construction crews, office workers, and students who need a substantial meal that does not break the bank.
The K S Market Quirk
Keep in mind that this is a true grab-and-go destination. Seating is sparse, and during the midday rush, the line can snake out the door, making parking a game of patience in the tight lot. If you are looking for white tablecloths, you are in the wrong place—but if you want to eat like a true resident of Oahu, grabbing a styrofoam container here is a rite of passage. It is loud, it is fast, and it delivers exactly what you expect: reliable, flavorful comfort food that fuels the rest of your day in the islands.

Going around looking for fasi povi since I've been craving. Was excited that they put it in individual containers and the prices are clearly marked. The old female worker got mad at me when I told her she rung me up wrong. I told her no, the chop suey is $5.99 not the $6.99 she put it as. All she said was oh, there was no apology. And you know she was giving attitude for having to use calculator. Make sure you know the prices and check receipts so you no get ripped off.

This grocery store is close to where I am living, and if you like local food, they serve some here. Taro, boiled banana, taro with coconut, and yam. Not all local food but just couple of them with cooked meat in bentos.
