About
Local Flavors at the Heart of Honolulu
Stepping into K & K Kitchen feels like walking into a friend’s home kitchen. Located in the vibrant Kalihi district, this spot serves as a cornerstone for those seeking authentic, no-frills comfort food that defines the local Honolulu culinary scene. The space is humble and functional, prioritizing the steam rising off a hot plate over polished decor.
Island Comforts and Daily Specials
The menu leans heavily into local plate lunch traditions. The signature loco moco is a masterclass in consistency, featuring a hand-pressed patty smothered in a savory, onion-forward gravy that demands plenty of white rice. Locals often rave about their generous portions of shoyu chicken, which strikes that tricky balance between salty and sweet, with the skin rendered perfectly soft from a long, slow braise. The sizzle of the grill and the rhythmic clatter of plates provide a constant, energetic soundtrack to your meal.
Know Before You Go
This is a place built for the hardworking lunch crowd. Expect a fast-paced environment where the focus is on getting high-quality fuel into your hands quickly. It is worth noting that parking in this part of town can get tight during the peak noon rush, so a bit of patience—or a short walk from a nearby side street—is standard procedure for regulars. If you are looking for a place to linger with a glass of wine, look elsewhere, but if you want the kind of food that sustains you through a long day in the heat of Oahu, K & K Kitchen delivers exactly what it promises without pretense.

This was our first breakfast stop in Honolulu. It was such a cute setup! There aren't any tables, so we ate in the car; but that did NOT take away from the experience! The generous portions fed us twice and couldn't have been a better introduction to Hawaiian cuisine.

Nice prices. Very small establishment. That hole in the wall. It is a take away type of place. The phone kept ringing and alot of people come by and pick up food. Because they take a while to cook the food if you walk at the counter. For our garlic chicken and egg plate took about 10 min. I think it took long because of the phone orders. Everyone the 4 different parties that picked up food commented how they liked their food. I liked it. Very tasty. Would want to try other foods the next time I come again

Take out only. Large plate lunches. Generous portions. Food so so. Corned beef hash with eggs and fried rice $12.50. hash was very dry. The garlic chicken plate was very tasteless. CANNOT be compared to Sugoi's. Not even close. Had no garlic flavor or taste.
