Japanese BBQ. Yoshi
About
A Slice of Tokyo in the Heart of Honolulu
Stepping into Japanese BBQ Yoshi, you are immediately greeted by the sharp, savory scent of charcoal and marinated meats searing on tabletop grills. This isn’t a place for white-tablecloth pretense; it is a straightforward, no-frills destination for those who prioritize the quality of a cut over fancy decor. The interior feels like a busy Osaka eatery, where the sound of sizzling beef and the hum of conversation creates an energetic, communal backdrop.
The Art of the Tabletop Grill
The menu centers on high-quality yakiniku. You are the chef here, charring strips of succulent short rib or thinly sliced ribeye to your preferred level of crispness. The house-made tare dipping sauce is the star, balancing a deep umami profile with just enough sweetness to cut through the richness of the fats. If you are dining with a group, the variety platters allow you to sample everything from tender tongue to flavorful pork belly, making it an excellent choice for a loud, late-night dinner with friends.
Local Nuance
While the food delivers on authenticity, be prepared for a bit of a localized shuffle when it comes to vehicle storage. Parking in this part of town can feel like a game of musical chairs, so arriving a few minutes early is a smart play. The space is modest and can get quite warm once all the grills are fired up, which only adds to the immersive, high-energy environment. Whether you are craving a late-night feast or a casual weekday dinner, this spot captures the essence of Japanese barbecue culture without needing to leave the islands.

I love their yakiniku but I come here for Fried intestine. So delicious. I’ve never seen fried intestines other place on the island. I got cold noodles this time and i made great decisions. Definitely coming back for those my favorites.

No words can explain the feeling of eating wagyu meat and it melting in your mouth like butter. The meat selection here and service are both excellent. All of the sides were great as well. I highly recommend the yuzu jelly desert. And yes, it's pricy, but well worth then experience.
