Honolulu’s Favorite Breakfast Haven

If you find yourself wandering through the streets of Honolulu, Jack’s Restaurant is the kind of place that feels like a well-kept secret among residents. It sheds the pretension of trendy brunch spots, offering instead a quintessential local atmosphere where the clatter of silverware against ceramic plates creates a rhythmic, morning soundtrack.

A Traditional Taste of the Islands

The menu focuses on straightforward, soul-warming comfort food. You will find stacks of fluffy pancakes, crisp bacon, and eggs cooked exactly to your preference. It is a no-nonsense kitchen that prioritizes consistency over flair. Regulars often recommend arriving early on the weekend, as the compact floor plan tends to fill up quickly, often resulting in a brief wait near the door. The smell of freshly brewed coffee hits you the moment you step off the sidewalk, serving as a fragrant welcome that lingers long after you finish your meal.

Perfect for a Low-Key Start

This establishment excels for diners who prefer a functional, honest meal without the fanfare of boutique cafes. It is an ideal pitstop for those needing a reliable, filling breakfast before heading out to explore the Pacific coastline or prepping for a day of work. While the space is modest and the echoes of conversation can bounce off the walls during the busy morning rush, the service remains efficient and friendly. Whether you are craving a classic omelet or just a quiet corner to watch the neighborhood wake up, this spot provides a grounded experience that anchors you firmly in the local rhythm of the city.

Great local hole in the wall place. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Try the fish breakfast, it's good. My favorite is the Chicken salad papaya combo. Don't skip the biscuits - they are the best.

Though I think I've only ever ordered the veggie omelet with cheese, it is my favorite omelet. Perfect size and great veggie selection (who knew cabbage would be so good in an omelet?!) The hashbrowns are perfectly crispy. Be sure to get the biscuit! My friends have enjoyed the other menu items they've ordered. While I usually dine in this time I did takeout and everything was just as good as if I had eaten there. (Granted, I did eat it in my car right away.) FYI they're now closed for repairs, I think till Jan 7.

Save your money and time. Go elsewhere. Tried their “deluxe” burger: - cold wet bun - less than 2mm meat - onion was cut thicker than meat 🤣 - cold slice of cheese (charged extra) Empty cardboard display in the middle of the place might have been a tip which I unfortunately did not notice in time. Have some ventilation problems, place filled with irritating smell of burnt oil. On top of it restroom out of order.

Great little joint. Good prices, good service. Mocoloco was legit. Fish burger was a hit also.

Found Jack's by putting "food near me" in Google on my business trip. It was exactly what I needed, friendly, local, delicious, and very reasonable charge. While I was eating, I saw a pancake 3 stack 4 inches tall, a half fresh papya, and they have a homemade roll/biscuit they make that had some Hawaiian magic in it. I ordered that with my Loco Moco. Both were great. They will split the biscuit for you and grill it so it's "crunchy". I will definitely return.

It’s homemade food, not the best as I don’t think they buy quality ingredients but it does the job. Coffee wasn’t good.

Great casual local spot for an easy breakfast! Definitely recommend getting the biscuits grilled as it gives a crunchy delicious texture to a biscuit which you wouldn’t expect. The whipped butter for the biscuit was so light and airy as well! The Portuguese sausage had just the right amount of spice. While I don’t have photos of it, the corned beef hash was also a delicious meat option for the breakfast combo!

Excellent local style mom and pop eatery. Informal and friendly atmosphere although a bit noisy. Great place to eat and talk story. Serves the best breakfast and lunch options. Wide variety of menu choices at very reasonable prices. Our favorites are the #4 breakfast combo of egg, fried corned beef hash and Jack’s biscuit with coffee; fried rice with Portuguese sausage; and lamb curry. Saturday mornings are especially busy. Worthwhile to pick up and eat out at a local park nearby such as Kawaikui. Dining-in and take out services are fast, about 10-15 minutes. Lots of parking available with easy access to parking lot from main highway. Phone calls answered quickly. No option for ordering online or delivery. We have been going there for decades and the quality and service have been consistently excellent. Masks required for entry and social distancing practiced. Open for dining in at near capacity.
