Jack in the Box - Honolulu (Kalanianaole Hwy)
About
A Hawaii Kai Pit Stop
Positioned right along the Kalanianaole Highway, this spot serves as a reliable anchor for commuters and beach-goers heading toward Hanauma Bay or Sandy Beach. It offers that classic, high-speed convenience that defines the Jack in the Box experience, making it a go-to for those who need a quick meal without straying far from their East Honolulu itinerary.
Menu Favorites and Fast Comfort
Whether you are craving the signature Jumbo Jack or looking to grab a quick order of curly fries after a morning of surfing, the menu delivers consistent, familiar flavors. Locals often stop here for the late-night tacos or a quick breakfast sandwich before tackling the traffic toward town. The kitchen maintains a brisk pace, ensuring your meal is ready to go as you navigate the stretch between Niu Valley and Hawaii Kai.
What to Expect
The atmosphere is strictly functional and utilitarian. Expect the hum of highway traffic outside and a brightly lit, efficient dining area inside. It’s the kind of place where you come for the utility rather than a slow, sit-down meal. Be mindful that during peak lunch hours, the drive-thru line can spill toward the highway shoulder, a common quirk for this specific corridor. If you’re passing through the Kalanianaole strip, it remains the most straightforward option for a grab-and-go meal that hits the spot every time.

Brah… if your hours say midnight, maybe stay open till midnight. Me and da boys was starving, so we cruise Niu Valley Jack in the Box. Google and the sign say open till 12:00 AM. We pull in around 11:54 PM. One car in front of us. We hear da lady take their order no problem. Our turn comes. We pull up all ready fo order. “Sorry, we closed.” Huh? We ask, “What time you guys close tonight?” “12:00.” We look at the clock. 11:56 PM. Last time I checked, 11:56 still come before 12:00. If you like close early, at least change da hours or stop taking orders before us. Don’t let one car order, then tell the next one four minutes before closing, “Sorry, we’re closed.” Das not how clocks work. We wasn’t asking for one 50-piece catering order. Just wanted some late-night food after a long night. Left hungry. Gas get burned. Time get wasted. Belly stay empty. If your hours say midnight, honor ’em.

Went thru drive thru and was given wrong change by cashier, she was extremely defensive and adamant on giving me correct change. I told her go check cameras to verify how much change she gave me. She came back after checking cameras and gave me the dollar that she unknowingly shorted me. She was extremely rude and didn’t even apologize for her overreaction to shorting me the dollar. Totally unacceptable behavior by the cashier.

Absolutely the WORST jack in the box I have ever been to! I live near by, I went 4 times to give them a chance and every time was worse!!! Cold food, smashed! I waited 30 mins for 6 tacos, we were the only ones in the dining area. They def prioritize drive thru. They only had 2 workers. Loud rap music and the girls who worked there were dancing, taking their time. No rush or hurry at ALL!!! Oh and forget getting fresh fries… not once did I get warm or hot fries. Cold and hard and scraps. Flys were flying all around the sandwiches the lady was making. There’s more but I’m in a rush. I don’t usually leave reviews especially for fast food! The owners of this place CLEARLY do not care!! Don’t bother going

Very tasty!! The one sandwich was pretty pricey but it is Hawaii I suppose, and it was tasty!

There I was an evening dreary, leaving Gyotaku worn and sleepy. I just wanted a piece of cheesecake to top off my tummy. 2 cars in line, should be fast, but I still wait my cheesecake when 20 minutes have passed.

Ordered at the kiosk at counter. Waited a very long time for our food. Food wasn't the hottest as we seen it sitting on the counter in back before we got it. Employees were very rude and paid very little attention to the counter. Diet coke was empty no one would acknowledge the counter so I didnt tell them. Multiple dirty tables when we walked in. The floor by the counter was extremely sticky. Multiple timers went off in the back for a long time before being shut off. There was also a sign that said no public restroom. When I asked about it I couldn't understand a word that the employees said.

There are not many eating options in East Honolulu. This Jack in the Box really has many positive things such as ease of parking, large spacious dining room and good visibility off the main highway. Its too bad that their service and what I can see management is lacking. They had the dining room close for a long time which has now reopened. On this day, there was only two workers handling the entire store. They have a tablet self service order at the front counter. After having some issues with finding a simple cup of coffee on this tablet, one of the two workers helped complete the order. The entire tab for the two of us was $39! I might be old school but anything close to $40 for fast food is pretty crazy. All we really got was a specialty sandwich, two drinks, 4 tacos and a egg roll. After placing the order, it is very apparent that they focus and expedite order at their drive through rather than walk in customers. We waited longer than 15 minutes for our order to be completed and we were the only customers in the dining room. Simple things like access to a clean restroom was not available as all of the toilets were locked and they told us that they lost the keys. A request for a cup to get some water from drinking fountain required them to sell a paper cup for $0.50 All in all, the lesson learned here is that you are careful and selective of what you order, drive through for your order and not dine in.

Ordered on the app the app says it'll take 10 minutes for the food be ready, got there to pick up my food and waited another 15 minutes for my food to be ready. There was literally nobody else in line. The app says your food will be ready in 10 minutes I pre-order on the app so I don't have to wait for the food to be cooked it so it's ready when I get there. The app even asked if you were going to be picking it up within 10 to 15 minutes

Typical Jack in the Box, clean well taken care of establishment. The burger was mediocre and the portion was small. Curly fries were the last of the fryer. The highlight was the Shake, if you come here for anything that anything should be their shake. Large is a good size and they're super thick so it doesn't immediately turn into milk.

Was a fairly good place to eat. They had supply boxes blocking the restroom. Plenty of place to sit. My sandwich was pretty good-little messy.
