Island Soul Shaved Ice

Such a great place for shave ice. Traditional and comforting in that ALL the syrups, creams, candies and pastes are totally homemade but very unique in their flavors and experience. Kids had fun with build your own shave ice and adults got to try new and interesting flavors (pikake, pandan, & pickled mango syrups!). Amazing people working there as well! Definitely worth a stop!

Small store hard to see from the street with entrance in the side. The people are nice. The store has nice murals on the walls. Clean. Limited menu all $14.99 with choices of fruit very big size bowl. I think there was 8 choices. No children's size. A limited choice of flavors. If you are looking for a regular old style shave ice and great number of flavors you're not getting them here. The ice was not really fine. But was ok. The flavors had an after taste. To me the price was high and no choice of a smaller size.

Best shaved ice we had in Hawaii! We had #6. The ice was flavored with pikake syrup, but not too strong. Topped with shaved coconut strips, salty coconut cream, and crystallized pandan. On the side are two scoops of taro and ube paste. The flavor complexity goes wonderfully together.

This is quite possibly the best shave ice I’ve ever had. Everything is house made, including their syrups which are made with organic cane sugar. It’s a bit expensive for shave ice, especially considering the neighborhood, however the portions are huge and the ingredients are top notch. I highly recommend! 🍧💕 …

I honestly had no idea shaved ice could feel like a proper dining experience until we stumbled into Island Soul. We ordered the #7 — Ulu Paste & Banana Syrup shaved ice, made with organic sugar and topped with coconut cream, pandan crystals, and fresh coconut shavings, and it was absolutely incredible. The flavors were layered and intentional — this isn’t your roadside snow cone. It’s something else entirely. What really set it apart was the hospitality. The chef actually came out to our table to walk us through the dish and talk about the local ingredients — that kind of personal touch is rare anywhere, let alone at a shaved ice spot. And when he noticed our daughter, he put together a special little sample just for her. She was absolutely over the moon. That moment alone earns every star. If you’re in Hawaii and skipping this place, you’re doing it wrong. Island Soul is the real deal — creative, community-rooted, and genuinely memorable.

I had the most unique shave ice here. There are eight specialty ones to choose from. My husband had one with fresh strawberries and pineapple on it. I had the ube and taro one that was topped with whipped coconut cream and some kind of crunchy green candy that was delicious and added salty to the sweet treat. The syrups are house made and delicious. Mine was pikake syrup--smelled and tasted like a pikake lei! Delicious and made with organic sugar cane. They are pricey, but large enough for two. The toppings included a scoop of sweet caramel tasting taro, ube, and fresh coconut shredded over everything. The woman who makes these should win an award for creativity and the shop is clean and bright.

Exploring in my day off I found this beautiful place, great flavors no super sweet syrups and great presentation. Definitely is a good experience to try the shave ice, nice ambiance and concept. My son and I were very happy with this.

Our first time to Oahu and our first time trying shaved ice. The pictures online and the pictures at the restaurant don’t do it justice. This was light flavorful and amazing. We went with the suggestion of the nice lady running the shop and it was a hit. Go with #4

This place truly stands out for its shaved ice. The ice is perfectly fine and melts smoothly, and the natural, homemade syrups are bursting with real fruit flavor. Fresh fruit toppings add an extra layer of freshness, making each bite feel clean and refreshing rather than sugary. You can tell a lot of care goes into the ingredients and preparation.

You know a place is good when you are still dreaming of going back after you’ve been gone from the island for ten days!! This place is the best shave ice EVER!!! The only reason not to go is because you’ll be comparing every other Shave ice place to this!! Nothing after this measures up to the all natural ingredients, how soft and finely shaved the ice is, the happy vibe and decor (lots of seating) and an owner that so clearly loves his place and what he does! He kept giving us little samples of other yummy samples to try - each as good as the one before it. We tried the jasmine flavoring - and it wasn’t like anything I’ve ever had before - it was like he had bottled a smell into a flavor. Indescribably delicious and unique. All the fruit was cut right in front of us. It is on the higher priced side, but so totally worth it! You will not be sorry! We might have to plan a trip back just for this shaved ice alone!
