A Waikiki Morning Staple

Located just steps from the soft sands of Ala Moana Beach, this IHOP serves as a convenient anchor for travelers and locals navigating the bustling west end of Waikiki. As you step off the busy thoroughfare, the familiar scent of sizzling bacon and griddled batter provides a comforting, predictable start to a Honolulu morning.

What to Expect

The interior reflects the high-energy pulse of this famous resort district. Expect a lively, often bustling environment where the clatter of silverware against ceramic plates creates a constant hum. It is the go-to spot for families who need a quick, reliable fueling stop before a day of surfing or shopping. While the pace can be rapid during the weekend breakfast rush, the efficiency of the staff keeps the coffee flowing steadily.

Signature Griddle Favorites

The menu highlights the classic buttermilk pancakes that defined the brand, though many locals opt for the island-influenced tropical fruit toppings. Whether you are craving a fluffy Omelette or the indulgent Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity stack, the consistency remains the primary draw. Keep in mind that the building shares space with the Aqua Palms hotel complex; while parking in this part of Honolulu can be a tight squeeze, the proximity to the surrounding Waikiki hotels makes it a highly walkable option for those exploring the neighborhood on foot.

Traveling for our honeymoon and got some great recommendations from our server, Jay! Efficient service, despite the rush of people that came in at the same time as us! Food took a bit but was worth the wait

Worst IHOP ever. When we came into the restaurant no one was at the front area or front counter. We waited and my husband looked for a bell to ring for service. Finally a man came up to seat us. When we were seated it took a long time for our server to come to ask about drinks before ordering food. Finally we ordered coffee and water. I asked for the bathroom to wash up and they HAD NO BATHROOM!! At a large chain this is unacceptable. They said we had to walk down the street to a hotel to use the bathroom or wash your hands before eating. Bad start. So when I came back from walking to the hotel still no coffee at our table. When they finally brought the office it was not hot. Lukewarm coffee. We asked for hot coffee and they brought lukewarm coffee again. Then we ordered and 3 different items / plates of food were burnt! We sent back the burnt food. All the food was overcooked and visibly burnt. I can’t believe the cook and the server both thought that was ok to bring out to the table. At the end the bill was over 100 dollars for really bad food and service. There are many other breakfast places near this IHOP. Try other places instead. We won’t be back to this IHOP.

We ate here many times as we like pancakes. Always came in the evening when the restaurant is very quiet. They need to hire more help though. A lot of people were ignored and walked away as they only had one waitress working. We were very patient and had very good pancakes.

Went early morning on a Monday. Food was excellent. Had chocolate chip, cinnamon, snicker doodle and chocolate pancakes, along with the breakfast burrito. Everything was excellent and I was barely able to get pics before it was all gone. Prices average for Hawaii. Would go back.

Dined here twice by mistake on my recent visit to Honolulu! First visit was a mistake. I should have known better than go the second time. First visit, the atmosphere was so sad! The signage was all about putting a smile on your face and the tshirts the staff wear says we put a smile on your plate. It was nothing like that! Depressing to be there and the staff looked so miserable. The food was just ok. There were no spoons available to stir coffee with so we were given an extra fork! On our second visit, we were seated quickly, the restaurant was busier than our first time there. Our server came by and told us it would be half an hour to get our order which was fine. We ordered coffee and placed our order. Coffee came, no cutlery on the table, only thing to stir coffee was the straw for the water. Food came in less than 30 minutes, but that was the only good thing about it. Check out the pictures here! Look at the hash browns I was served. They were burnt so hard they crumbled apart. And what did we give us for cutlery? A plastic fork and knife! They had no proper cutlery to give us. Right away I told the server that I wanted a new order of hashbrowns and he apologized. He was back in less than a minute with a new order and it was much better! What kind of kitchen would send out the hash browns I got when a proper order was readily available. My partner ordered a spinach and ham omelet! His omelet looks like it was grilled on a dirty grill. The ham in the omelet was also burnt and very hard! In comparison, I’ve been to the IHOP down towards Waikiki many times on previous visits and I was there once on this visit. It’s night and day when it comes to comparing these two locations. The other location is dated but man the service is so good and the food is much better. The Ala Moana Blvd location could learn a lot from this other location. Needless to say I will not be visiting the Ala Moana Blvd location again and would not recommend it to anyone thinking about dining there.

Not that I have super high expectations with an ihop, but this one didn’t even hit that low bar. Now the servers were very nice, the restaurant was dirty (especially the floors), food was fine but the side of fruit was less than desirable. Not a lot of breakfast options within walking distance, but we definitely went on to try others in the area instead of returning.

**Disappointing Experience at IHOP Honolulu – Overpriced and Lacking Local Flair** ⭐⭐ (2/5 stars) As a visitor from the mainland, I was excited to try IHOP in Honolulu, but it fell short in several ways. First off, the prices were shocking – nearly quadruple what I'd pay back in the states for similar items. For that kind of markup, I expected something special, but it felt like overpaying for basic American fare. I tried to order crepes and they were out. 😒 My chocolate pancakes were a major miss: one had just a single chocolate chip, while the bottom one had a clump all in the middle. It seemed rushed and sloppy, not the quality I'd hope for. The eggs and sausage links were decent, but nothing standout. What really bummed me out was the lack of a local menu – no spam, rice, or Hawaiian twists to make it feel unique to the islands. I'd much rather support spots with authentic local options instead of this plain Jane meal. Overall, not worth the price or the visit if you're looking for value or variety.

Our family visited IHOP for breakfast today, and we left in such a great mood! We really appreciated that they offer a kids’ menu suitable even for toddlers and infants. There were also high chairs available, which made it easy and comfortable for our little ones to sit with us. Breakfast was delicious! I had pancakes, and they were soft, warm, and full of flavor — just perfect. The only downside was the long wait time for our food, but it was worth it in the end. The service was amazing. Today also happened to be my husband’s birthday, and when I mentioned it to our server, he and the manager made the moment truly special. They brought out a little dessert with a candle and even sang Happy Birthday, which was such a kind and unexpected gesture. It made our morning feel festive and memorable. This breakfast felt like the perfect start to a celebratory day. If you’re visiting IHOP for a birthday — definitely let your server know, they’ll make it special for you too. Highly recommend this location!
