Honolulu Tavern
About
A Dive Bar Staple in the Pacific
When you find yourself wandering through the streets of Honolulu looking for a place that feels like it has been here forever, Honolulu Tavern is the spot. This isn't a polished tourist trap; it is a straightforward, no-frills neighborhood hangout where the beer is cold and the floors have seen decades of stories. The interior leans into an authentic island tavern aesthetic, with dim lighting that makes it a perfect hideout from the midday tropical sun.
The Local Flavor
The kitchen here focuses on the kind of hearty, savory comfort food that pairs perfectly with a heavy pour. You will notice the scent of the deep fryer and seasoned griddles as soon as you step inside. Known for their reliable bar snacks and local pub favorites, the menu is designed for people who want honest portions without the pretension. If you are craving a place to watch a game or just decompress after a day at the beach, this is your home base.
What to Expect
Keep in mind that this is a quintessential dive bar; the space is intimate, which means it can get loud when the crowd picks up during happy hour. Parking in the surrounding blocks can be a bit of a challenge, so grab a rideshare or walk if you are already exploring the local area. It is the kind of place that rewards those who skip the resorts and look for the real-world side of the island. Whether you are a regular or just passing through, you are treated with the same casual, friendly attitude that defines the local hospitality scene.

Great local dive bar in the heart of Waikiki! We stumbled in here, and we met so many friendly locals and learned a lot about life in Hawaii. Drinks were good and cheap for the rest of Waikiki.

Great neighborhood bar. They were ecstatic when I bought the bar a round. Just what I was looking for in a bar for our first night in Honolulu. Friendly.

Best dive bar in town, NO POOL table though, you can thank Covid for that. Now serving Tostadas every Tuesday for $2 dollars, beers are the best bang for your buck.
