Honolulu Sushi (745 Keeaumoku St #103)
About
A Slice of Tokyo in the Heart of Keeaumoku
Stepping into Honolulu Sushi feels like discovering a quiet, refined corner of Japan right amidst the bustling energy of the Keeaumoku corridor. The space is intimate, stripped of unnecessary flair, focusing entirely on the craft of the sushi master. You will hear the rhythmic, sharp sound of a knife hitting a wooden cutting board, punctuated only by the low hum of conversation from regulars who know this is where to find high-quality fish without the pretense of a high-end Waikiki tourist trap.
The Art of the Omakase Experience
This spot is ideal for those who prefer their dining experiences centered on texture and freshness. The menu highlights classic Edomae-style preparations, where the quality of the local and imported catch speaks for itself. Patrons often rave about the melt-in-your-mouth bluefin tuna and the delicate balance of vinegar in the seasoned rice, which acts as the perfect canvas for the sliced sashimi. Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch while navigating the dense traffic of central Honolulu or settling in for an evening meal, the consistency here remains a standout feature.
Navigating the Local Scene
Be prepared for a minor logistical quirk: parking in this part of town can be a bit of a puzzle. It is wise to arrive a few minutes early to secure a spot in the nearby lots so you can fully relax into your meal. The lighting is bright and functional, keeping the focus squarely on the vibrant colors of the nigiri served before you. If you appreciate a no-nonsense atmosphere where the chef’s technical skill is the primary attraction, this neighborhood gem is exactly where you should spend your next Friday night. It serves as a grounded, reliable staple for the local sushi enthusiast seeking an unpretentious bite in the city.

Great food and friendly staff. They helped me make a couple veggie rolls off menu so I could have more variety. I’m picky about quality and this place is consistently delicious.

Tucked away in the corner of a busy plaza, Honolulu Sushi at Ke’eaumoku feels like one of those rare hidden gems you almost want to keep to yourself—but it’s way too good not to share. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed so warmly—the owner is genuinely one of the nicest people you’ll meet, making the whole experience feel personal and inviting right away. The nigiri sushi was hands down some of the best I’ve had—incredibly fresh, perfectly balanced, and crafted with so much care. Each piece just melts in your mouth, and you can truly taste the quality of the fish. And the tempura? Absolutely flawless. Light, crisp, and not greasy at all—exactly how tempura should be. Every bite had that perfect crunch without overpowering the ingredients. What really makes this place special is how it combines amazing food with heartfelt hospitality. It’s not flashy or overhyped—it’s just genuinely excellent. Don’t let the tucked-away location fool you—this is easily one of the best sushi spots around. A true must-visit, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Sometimes when you are in a new town you roll the dice on a place. Never seen it or heard about it but you just go for it. I did it here and I wanted a meal. It was cheap but I got what I paid for. Sushi was ok. Terrioki chicken salad had a good portion of meat but it wasn’t that tasty. Water no ice… no refill… no return
