Honolulu Kitchen Little Corner Cafe
About
A Slice of Local Life
Tucked away from the high-rise bustle of the Waikiki corridor, Honolulu Kitchen serves as a gateway to authentic island comfort food. This isn't your polished resort dining; it’s where the locals stop for a quick bite before heading to the beach or finishing a long shift. The space feels lived-in and honest, with the lingering scent of savory pastry dough and frying manapua greeting you the moment the door swings open.
The Art of the Manapua
The undisputed stars of the show here are the manapua—fluffy, steamed buns that have become a staple of local Honolulu food culture. Whether you lean toward the traditional char siu pork filling or prefer to experiment with the baked versions that offer a slightly sweeter, golden exterior, these handheld snacks are consistent crowd-pleasers. The menu is a love letter to Hawaii’s multicultural palate, blending Chinese culinary influences with the casual, no-fuss requirements of a Pacific island lifestyle.
What to Expect
The operation runs on efficiency. It’s a grab-and-go heavy environment, though there are a few spots to sit if you need to escape the midday heat. Don't be surprised if the line stretches toward the sidewalk during the lunch rush—it moves quickly, fueled by the brisk cadence of regulars getting their daily fix. You might notice the parking situation is a bit tight, which is practically a rite of passage for popular local spots across the city. Come for the convenience, stay for the comfort of a warm bun that tastes exactly like home.

While on vacation, we happened upon this place for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We got the spicy wonton and home-made dumplings, which we excellent. We also tried the freshly made ube manapua (which we never had) and were amazed at how good they were. The owners were very attentive to us. Thank you!

This is a small but very ideal, friendly, little restaurant/smoothie place to visit for a smoothie or local/asian delights or small meals. I usually get a strawberry banana smoothie, but they have a pretty good variety if that's not your thing.

We had sweet potato pancake, rolled noodles and milktea. The pancake was so warm, crispy on the outside and soft inside. Portion is big for everything. Good enough to share. The cafe is sparkling clean. Chef and his wife were super friendly. They also have interesting items for sale, like labubu dolls, shrimp chips, orange peels, tea leaves, and mochi cakes. What a fantastic cafe and hidden gem!

Very bright clean and welcoming. My daughters strawberry lychee smoothie with popping lychee boba was awesome (and she is very picky she related it 100). I had the special, real fruit soursop smoothie no add ins and it was great! First time truly having soursop anything and it was refreshing great texture and not too sweet. We tried their spring rolls and took home 1 each deep fried and steamed manapua; char siu and chicken curry. I’ll be back when in the area for sure.

From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere that instantly makes you feel like part of the family. The staff is incredibly attentive and personable, always making sure you're taken care of without ever being overbearing. It’s clear that they genuinely care about their customers. We were generously given free dimsum samples while enjoying our order. Every dish is bursting with flavor, made from fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can tell it's crafted with love. Whether you're craving a sweet açaí bowl, perfectly seasoned sweet potato fries, or delicate dumplings, they have something to satisfy every palate.

Glad I found this spot! Came by after we hiked to Manoa Falls and stopped by Puʻu ʻUalakaʻa State Wayside Lookout point. Was craving a green smoothie because we haven’t been eating many veggies. Got a Summer Night Love (spinach, kale, pineapple, banana, orange, lemon) smoothie ($8) and spicy garlic wontons to go ($12 for 8). The wontons were delicious, good if you can handle mala chili oil! Smoothie hit the spot, you can taste the greens & pineapple There are a couple tables and AC if you want to dine in
