Honolulu Bistro
About
A Taste of Modern Island Cuisine
Stepping into Honolulu Bistro feels like catching a cool Pacific breeze after a day under the hot Hawaiian sun. Located right in the bustling pulse of the Waikiki district, this spot moves away from the typical tourist traps, offering a refined take on local comfort food. The interior is bright and airy, with rattan accents and large windows that let the vibrant energy of the city spill inside.
Signature Island-Inspired Menu
Chef-driven plates here lean heavily on the bounty of the islands. The signature Loco Moco is a standout, featuring a house-made patty and a rich, deep demi-glace that elevates the dish beyond the standard diner fare. If you’re stopping by for lunch, the fresh catch poke bowls rely on market-daily fish that carries a crisp, oceanic snap. You’ll hear the rhythmic clatter of the open kitchen and the soft hum of local musicians often performing near the bar area.
Local Nuances
It is worth noting that the seating arrangement is quite intimate—you might find yourself chatting with the patrons at the next table, which adds to the communal, laid-back charm of the space. While parking in this part of Honolulu can be a bit of a puzzle, the walkability to nearby landmarks makes it a perfect stop before heading down to the shore. Whether you are a local looking for a reliable lunch spot or a visitor wanting to eat like a resident, the bistro delivers a genuine slice of contemporary Honolulu dining without the pretension.

Cozy and welcoming place with a very attentive staff. Stopped in for my coffee fix and accompanied it with Da Aloha Grilled Cheese. Had to pull apart the grilled cheese and see the rainbow. Highly recommend. It looks cool and tastes amazing.

Overall a great stop, the decor is nice and cosy. My only critique is that the only cheese options are American or Mozzarela. I think mild-cheddar as an optional $1 upgrade would improve a lot of the sandwich options.

I recommend exploring other sandwich establishments. I was dissatisfied with both the flavor and portion size of my order. Additionally, it took fifteen minutes for them to prepare a basic sandwich. That order was $18!!

I found this place by pure accident while trying to get my musubi fix. Right next door to the musubi place was this cute bistro with nummy grilled cheese and tomato soup! Their coffees and smoothies are great too! Best sandwich on the menu: the Local Deluxe! Small but cute atmosphere. Nice place to sit away from the hustle and bustle of Ala Moana Ctr! ❤️

Located right outside of Ala Moana Center’s Foodcourt, this little grilled cheese/smoothie shop is a good choice for a tasty and quick lunch. The menu selection was quite limited, but our pastrami sandwich and pesto chicken sandwich were very good. The bread was crusty in a perfect way. The dragon fruit smoothie was excellent as well. The smoothies here contain no artificial flavoring or sugar, which was the way we like them. The service was friendly and attentive. There were only six seats at this tiny sandwich shop.

I always love to go here when I am in Honolulu. Everything is delicious and the staff are very kind and helpful. They have indoor seating and you can also get takeout. I have had their PB&J, Corned beef and cheese (the local), pastrami, grilled cheese and tomato soup. Always delicious. Their smoothies are also delicious like the Four Seasons.
