A Slice of Kaka'ako Industrial Grit

Step off the sun-drenched streets of Kaka'ako and into the airy, high-ceilinged warehouse space that defines Honolulu Beerworks. This isn't your polished tourist trap; it’s where concrete floors meet the hum of fermentation tanks and the occasional clatter of kegs being moved. You’ll hear the low, rhythmic murmur of locals catching up over pints, punctuated by the sharp hiss of a fresh tap pull.

Brewed for the Island Climate

Chef and brewer Geoff Seideman keeps the lineup rotating, but the focus remains on quaffable, sessionable beers that cut through the humidity of O'ahu. You have to try the Pia Mahina, a coconut porter that somehow manages to feel light enough for a tropical afternoon. It pairs perfectly with the pub fare—think elevated burgers and fish tacos—that comes out of the kitchen with a distinct, smoky aroma of the grill.

The Experience

It’s an unpretentious environment where you’re just as likely to sit next to a local creative as you are a visitor seeking a reprieve from Waikiki’s crowds. Be prepared for a communal vibe; the long wooden tables are meant for sharing space. One minor quirk to keep in mind: the parking situation in this corner of Honolulu can be a bit of a scramble during peak evening hours, so arrive early or plan to stroll through the vibrant nearby street art district. It’s the kind of spot where the beer is cold, the conversation is easy, and the glass murals tell the story of a neighborhood finding its own identity.

We went in the noon so it was a bit hot, there’s no a/c but many fans. Very spacious ,lots of parking, servers were quick and friendly! They closed at 8pm and we went on a Thursday. We got the flight and you can choose what you want in the menu to go on the flight. The peach pale and blackberry was good. The kewalo and pussy grabber beer was good too. After that, they gave us a token for free pint of beer on our next visit which was cool!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Review Honolulu Beerworks was an unexpected gem and turned out to be one of the most memorable brewery stops on our trip. Tucked back into a commercial area, you definitely start to wonder if you’re heading in the right direction—but that’s part of the fun. Just when you think you’ve taken a wrong turn, you come upon a spacious, inviting brewery that’s absolutely worth the hunt. Once inside, the space opens up into a huge, open-air layout where you can see the full production side of the operation. Watching the brewing equipment in action adds a cool behind-the-scenes feel, almost like you’re getting a brewery tour while enjoying your beer. The atmosphere is laid-back, airy, and distinctly local, with plenty of space to spread out and soak in the vibe. The beer itself was excellent. We enjoyed a pint and were impressed with the craftsmanship—clean, flavorful, and true to style. It’s the kind of beer that keeps you wanting to try more of the lineup on the next visit. The environment makes it easy to relax, chat, and just enjoy being in such a unique setting. Even though it’s hidden away, the brewery has a charm that makes it feel like you’ve discovered a local secret. Friendly service, a fun atmosphere, and great beer all come together perfectly. If you’re exploring Honolulu and love checking out local breweries, Honolulu Beerworks is absolutely worth the stop. Highly recommended!

Great brews in an open space perfect for groups, with quality local music each night! We went Wednesday night with Michael Piranha, acoustic tunes… Limited food menu but fresh baked pretzels and flatbreads and delic Mac&Cheese!!! Staff were helpful with suggestions and very friendly. Recommend! We’ll be back.

A pleasant surprise in an up-and-coming industrial area. Solid range of IPAs and other relatively easy drinkers (I recommend the Cocoweizen, a toasted coconut hefe). To-go 6-packs are cheap, too! Tasty food, including a unique and memorable app: edamame hummus. Lively on a recent weeknight. Cool local art for sale that is also integrated into their branding. Street parking was rough, but worth the hunt!

Great food and tasty food at this great local brewery! They have a wide selection of beers, so I highly recommend getting a flight to taste as many styles as possible. The food menu is relatively small, but the food we got was very good. I definitely recommend trying the reuben sandwich. Service was super friendly and speedy. The location is in an industrial area, but it's a cool space with an open air concept and a small outdoor patio. Unfortunately parking is pretty limited in the area.

Really cool brewpub with delicious beers and food. Everyone is friendly. Trivia on Tuesday evenings. Parking can be tricky if you're driving there, but you should be able to find a spot within a couple blocks and simply walk over. Worth it.

My wife and I visited Honolulu Beerworks on 10/13/22. It was a Thursday afternoon and the place was pretty low key…Just what we were looking for! The beer was solid and the atmosphere very chill. The staff were friendly and made sure our glasses never went empty. It was the perfect place to get out of the sun after walking around and looking at the street art. I look forward to visiting again and checking out their live music. We didn’t have anything to eat therefore I can’t comment on the food. I would recommend checking this place out! It’s located in an industrial type neighborhood which has really color murals all over the buildings. Get out, walk around, look at the street art, and stop in for a cold beer!
