Hinana Bar
About
Sip on Tropical Traditions
Steps away from the golden sands of Waikiki, Hinana Bar serves as a low-key escape for those seeking an authentic Hawaiian refreshment. The air carries a faint, sweet scent of sea salt and muddling fruit, drifting from the open-air service area that invites the cooling Pacific breeze directly into your seat. It is the kind of place where locals stop to shed their sand-filled flip-flops and visitors find their first genuine taste of island hospitality.
Crafted Flavors of Honolulu
The menu leans heavily into classic island staples. Whether you are grabbing a chilled, perfectly balanced cocktail or one of their signature tropical infusions, every drink is poured with an eye for detail. The bartenders work with a rhythm that matches the steady, rhythmic pulse of Honolulu’s surf culture. Don't be surprised if the bar gets a bit lively; the intimate square footage means you will likely strike up a conversation with the person seated next to you, turning a quick stop into a long-form hangout.
Practical Island Tips
Finding a spot for your rental car nearby can be a bit of a dance due to the high density of Honolulu’s beachfront district, so consider walking or utilizing a rideshare if you plan on enjoying more than one round. The seating is modest and designed for quick movement, making it an ideal anchor point after an afternoon in the sun. If you want a place that avoids the glitz of high-end resorts in favor of a relaxed, neighborhood feel, this spot captures the cooling, unpretentious spirit of the island perfectly.

Yesterday 5/2 we had the rudest waitress respond to a simple question. When we came up to the front to validate parking after spending the day at the pool for my friend’s birthday, they told us parking was $7 for the day, we let her know the valet at the front actually told us parking was free. She then responded with “You can pay $7 an hour instead if you want” SMH. Such unwarranted rudeness and attitude in response to a question to clarify information, since her and their valet don’t seem to be on the same page. Mind you, this waitress also gave us poor service to begin with. We asked for plates and forks for our cake, did not get them, so we had to go up to the bar to get them, I didn’t order any drinks but my friends that did order, said that even drink service for them was not great. But it was busy so I gave her grace for not getting the plates I asked for, but then all for her to be extremely rude at the end for no reason. I’ve been in customer service roles for years on the past, and not once was I rude to a customer even when I was very busy or even when I was frustrated. I will give a shoutout to the guy at the bar, he was really nice and held our cake in the fridge for us and had it brought back to the front right away when I asked for it. But to that waitress, YOU NEED TO DO BETTER.

Excellent atmosphere. Went there for the first time with a drink and was told that I couldn't bring any outside drinks and to finish up in the hotel. I did exactly that, came back an hour later to hang with friends and couldn't get any service at all. The staff at the bar would walk over, look at me, say nothing, then ask everyone else if they needed anything. It took about an hour and a half for them to ask if I wanted anything and by then I was leaving. What's the point of saying I can't bring my own drinks when they won't even provide me the same service as everyone else? 0 out of 5 stars.
