Hawaiian Aroma Caffe (2222 Kalakaua Ave)
About
A Slice of Waikiki Morning Rituals
Stepping into this Kalakaua Avenue destination feels less like a quick caffeine stop and more like entering an open-air tropical living room. Hawaiian Aroma Caffe has carved out a niche in the heart of the Waikiki tourist district, blending the relaxed pace of island life with a sophisticated Italian-inspired menu. The scent of roasted beans hits you instantly, mingling with the salt-air breeze filtering in from the street.
The Flavor Profile
While the espresso machine stays busy, the real draw for locals and visitors alike is the commitment to presentation. Their signature waffle plates, topped with fresh island fruits and generous swirls of whipped cream, are a staple of the Honolulu breakfast scene. If you prefer savory options, the panini selections offer a crisp, pressed crust that pairs perfectly with their cold brew. The staff maneuvers through the bustling floor with a casual efficiency that fits the laid-back Hawaiian spirit.
Setting the Scene
The space is bright and airy, decorated with vibrant photography that pays homage to surf culture and local aesthetics. It serves as an ideal spot for those needing to check emails between beach sessions or for friends planning a day at the nearby sands. One thing to note: the popularity of this corner means the seating area fills up fast during peak mid-morning hours, and the open-concept design allows the lively pulse of the city to drift right to your table. Whether you are grabbing a quick macadamia nut latte or settling in for an afternoon snack, the atmosphere remains consistently energetic, echoing the heartbeat of the Kalakaua corridor.

A hidden gem that’s not hidden. Stumbled across this cafe today and I can’t believe I haven’t been here before. Most affordable friendly place I’ve been in Waikīki! It’s upscale and boutique. Very easy to have a conversation. Pleasant music at the perfect noise level. A perfect sized menu to provide you whatever you need whatever time of day you want to swing by. Homemade baked goods, to a full breakfast platter for those with a big appetite, or anyone trying to have a cold alcoholic beverage by the beach. This place has something for everyone. Plenty of seating and space for any accommodations needed. They even have a breakfast special with a meal and a drink for $15!! Can’t find that anywhere else in Waikiki or a happy hour from 12-7pm with cocktails, beer, shots, and pizza! Love that they not only have comfort food but healthy choice options too. They have a variety of açaí bowls and Avocado toast which is a weakness of mine.

I had high expectations for Hawaiian Aroma Caffé, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to them. The frozen fruit bowl was overly sweet to the point I couldn’t finish it, and the coffee that was recommended to me was also much sweeter than expected.

Stopped by Hawaiian Aroma Caffe right on the corner across from the beach—prime spot in Waikiki. Super convenient for a quick breakfast with ocean views just steps away. It's counter order and find-your-seat style, with solid indoor and outdoor seating options. The place is well designed, clean, and feels nice without being over-the-top. Coffee was above average—strong and fresh, hit the spot. Food was even better and a great value. I got the bacon egg and cheese bagel, happy with the price already, then it came out with the sandwich plus a side salad and fresh orange wedges. Nice surprise. My wife ordered the waffle and eggs—waffle topped with scrambled eggs, bacon, and more orange wedges on the side. Everything was tasty, well-portioned, and satisfying. Definitely will go again next time we're craving a solid, no-fuss breakfast right by the water.

Very nice menu options for a healthy breakfast. The açai bowl was tasty and the banana bread was served warm and wasn’t too sweet. Delicious. The americano coffee was the best I’ve tried in Waikiki. Service was surprisingly good and very friendly. Really exceeded our expectations.

A perfect café in Waikiki! I’m so happy Hawaiian Aroma Caffè took over the old Starbucks at Waikiki Walls, they’ve only been open about five months, and they’ve already become my favorite spot on the strip. It feels like a little Italian café right on the corner across from the Honolulu Zoo. Their espresso is fantastic, nice and smooth. I usually go in the morning for a cappuccino, but I’ve seen their breakfast plates and they look amazing! Prices are very fair, especially for the Waikiki area. They also serve cocktails, beer, and aperitivo drinks later in the day, which I love. It’s the perfect stop before your evening stroll down Kalākaua. They’re open 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., though I secretly hope they’ll extend to 9 or 10 p.m. someday! Beautiful space, friendly staff, great coffee exactly what that end of Waikiki needed. ☕🌺

A really cool upbeat louder cafe overlooking Waikiki Beach. It’s great for those looking for something with more energy and noise vs quiet Hawaiian vibe. Has DJ sets at times and current EDM tracks. Def an energetic place. Interiors very fresh with beautiful aesthetics of white with Birchwood cane and plants it’s really beautiful to look at and sit amongst. The coffee is really good here also. I had a decaf and it was really lovely full body. There was no bitterness to the bean. Very smooth and delicious. Cafe offers açai bowls, waffles, croissants, bagels sandwiches for food along with licensed drinks and cocktails. Guests can also enjoy a garden vibe outdoor seating area overlooking the beach of Waikiki A food spot and nice to see the former Starbucks location breathing life again.

We stopped by Hawaii Aroma Cafe and absolutely loved the tropical vibe! The space is bright and beachy, with relaxing Hawaiian music playing in the background. Everything felt very clean and welcoming. We tried the pineapple cake and a smoothie — both were delicious and fresh. There’s also an impressive selection of alcoholic drinks if you’re looking for something stronger. One of the highlights was a unique corner table with a wooden-style bench that gave the place a cool and cozy feel. Highly recommend this spot for a chill coffee break or even a fun drink!
