A Slice of Tokyo in the Heart of Waikiki

Stepping into Hatsuhana, you are immediately met with the quiet hum of authentic Japanese hospitality. Located just steps from the bustling Waikiki beachfront, this long-standing establishment offers a serene escape from the neon lights and crowded sidewalks of Honolulu. The interior leans into traditional aesthetics, where the soft clinking of ceramic sake cups and the rhythmic motion of chefs behind the wooden sushi counter define the sonic landscape.

The Art of the Sushi Bar

Hatsuhana is best known for its dedication to the craft of Edomae-style sushi. The omakase service here is an exercise in restraint and precision, focusing on the freshness of local catch balanced with high-grade imported ingredients. Regulars often congregate at the counter to watch the skilled hands of the chefs, who have mastered the delicate task of balancing vinegar-seasoned rice with seasonal sashimi. If you visit for dinner, the tempura platter is a standout; expect a light, glass-like crunch that shatters perfectly, revealing tender, perfectly steamed vegetables and seafood.

Local Insights

While the atmosphere is refined, newcomers should be prepared for the reality of urban dining in Hawaii; parking in the area can be a challenge, so opting for a ride-share or a walk from your nearby hotel is highly recommended. The dining room fills quickly during the early evening hours, creating a lively, albeit occasionally boisterous, environment. It remains a preferred destination for those seeking a legitimate taste of Japan without venturing beyond the city limits. Whether you are craving a steaming bowl of udon on a humid island night or a curated selection of nigiri, this Waikiki staple consistently delivers on its promise of quality.

We have been staying at this hotel for over 15 years and wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. Perfect location with a massive beach area, with only a 10-15 minute walk into the heart of Waikiki and a 10 minute walk to Ala Moana shopping mall. We stayed at the Rainbow tower and the rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. They’ve been renovated since our last stay and it looks amazing. A social thank you to our lovely housekeeper Eileen Zhang. Always so happy and has one of the most beautiful smiles. Our room was always kept to pristine standards. Mahalo and see you next time!🤩

I really enjoyed my recent stay at this Hilton Property. Pros: the location is great in Waikiki. The beachfront property and amenities are excellent. The atmosphere is vibrant and the service is excellent. Quick shout out to Nancy P who greeted me upon arrival and took great care to make sure my first impression was excellent. Also, Yurie at the Mandara Spa was excellent. Cons: My room was slightly dated, yet had all that I needed. This was a work trip but I forsee a return trip in the future with family

i had a wonderful stay at Hilton Village Waikiki and i am very grateful to the front desk check in lady who was so kind, she made arrangements for my room for my dietary restriction request. I am also very grateful to the manager Brian S who approved our room and we had a wonderful view from floor#31 and we had a great time. the hotel is on the beach, you will not get beach chairs or umbrellas, but pool side area is for hotel guests. very scenic and in the downtown. The view is outstanding and we at the rainbow tower. It was a beautiful experience and there are lots of eateries and 3 pools.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort with our three children (ages 4, 8, and 11). The property is huge, with five pools, numerous dining options, and plenty of activities to keep families entertained. We stayed in the Alii Tower on the 5th floor facing Diamond Head. Our room was spacious and well designed, with a separate bathtub and toilet, a large closet, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, a mini fridge, and complimentary bottled water replenished daily. In my opinion, the Alii Tower is the best place to stay on the property. It has its own lobby, private check-in and express check-out, and a quieter atmosphere. It is located right on the beach and is conveniently close to the Super Pool and pool bars. The resort offers an excellent entertainment program, including fish feeding, bracelet and necklace making, and movie nights. There are also several convenience stores on the property, including ABC Stores, which made it easy to pick up snacks and essentials. One thing we particularly enjoyed was the lagoon. The water was warmer than the pools, and there were plenty of fish to see, making it a favorite spot for our family. The only downside was that all of the pools were extremely cold, which made swimming less enjoyable. We also chose not to use the resort parking garage because the price was very high; instead, we parked at a nearby garage for about half the cost. For breakfast and snacks, we loved the açaí bowls near the Tapa Pool. Overall, I highly recommend this resort for families with children. If you are traveling as a couple, you may prefer a different hotel with a more romantic atmosphere. We would definitely return, especially if the pools were heated in the future.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect, literally everything is in walking distance from the hotel. House cleaning is performed every other day . The bathrooms are outdated. If you plan to spend time in the city vs the room, this hotel is perfect for you!

The resort itself was great. The beds were hard, the pillows flat, and our dryer didn't dry our clothes which we didn't find out until midnight the day we left because we had been enjoying Maui and not babysitting the dryer. They were kind …

Manny at the front desk provided great service while we visited. Not a resort. Our booking method had the resort fee waived. More like a no frills hotel room. 4* is the price-adjusted rating. Pros: Complementary beach towels. Air conditioner works very well. Plenty of warm and hot water. Water refill station near the front desk provides great water. Mini-fridge in the room. Con: bathroom lacked a fan.
