A Taste of Authentic Yakiniku Culture

Stepping into Han No Daidokoro feels like a swift transport from the bustle of Honolulu to a high-end Tokyo grill house. The air is thick with the savory, charcoal-kissed aroma of marbled beef hitting the tabletop ceramic grills, a sound that serves as the steady heartbeat of the room. This is a space dedicated to the art of Wagyu, focusing on high-grade cuts that melt with minimal effort.

The Meat-Forward Experience

The menu is anchored by their commitment to sourcing exceptional beef. Whether you are opting for a platter of assorted short ribs or the more adventurous offal selections, the focus remains on the purity of the protein. The signature cuts are often lightly seasoned, allowing the natural richness to take center stage, complemented by an array of house-made dipping sauces that range from sharp, citrus-forward ponzu to a deeply savory, fermented miso blend.

Atmosphere and Local Details

Located in the heart of the Ala Moana district, the restaurant maintains an energetic, social pace that works perfectly for group dinners or celebratory nights out. You will notice that the seating is intimate, which helps contain the lively chatter but does mean the space gets quite loud once the dinner rush settles in. It is an ideal spot for those who appreciate a hands-on dining experience where you dictate the doneness of every slice. Just be prepared to leave smelling faintly of hickory and ambition—a small price to pay for the quality of meat served here. While parking in this part of town can be a bit of a scavenger hunt, the reward of a perfectly seared piece of A5 Wagyu keeps local meat enthusiasts coming back regularly.

This is my fourth time here, and it’s absolutely delicious. The quality of the meat matches the price. Their set meals are really good. We also ordered Miyazaki beef separately; the Miyazaki beef with rice melted in our mouths, the meat was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I really love this restaurant. It‘s a high-end Wagyu beef restaurant. - I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times and have left several positive reviews in the past, as it used to be one of my favorite yakiniku spots in Hawaii. Update (March 18, 2026, around 9:00 PM): Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing — not only in service, but also in food quality and overall safety. From the beginning, the service felt inattentive and unprofessional. Despite there being many empty tables, we were not accommodated to a preferred seating request. The hostess showed no warmth, had no smile, and spoke in a noticeably unfriendly tone. During the meal, our table was repeatedly overlooked. Our water was not refilled for over 30 minutes, and grill changes were slow, while other tables appeared to receive more consistent attention. More concerning was the food quality. The wagyu we ordered contained tough connective tissue, which was unexpected at this price level. Even more alarming, we found a bug in one of the eggs and had to request a replacement. After returning home, both of us experienced diarrhea, which raises serious concerns about food handling and safety. What made this especially upsetting is that I came in genuinely excited, as this used to be a place I looked forward to visiting. Instead, the experience left me feeling frustrated, uncomfortable, and honestly quite disappointed. I’m not sure if I will return after this experience. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and addresses both service standards and food safety. This experience was far from what I previously trusted this restaurant to be.

This is the best beef yakiniku on the island. I just wish there were chicken, pork, and seafood options, but you will be hard pressed to find more tender beef yakiniku with top notch service anywhere. Great desert options also. Portions were a little small and we left hungry, but for the quality, the price is probably on par. Free parking in the same ward building also.

Today I got to try the Spicy Soup and it was great. The side dishes were extremely good also. The service was very friendly and helpful, but they seem to be short on workers as I had to wait some. But I would still give them 5 stars as I could see that they did their best.

Ever leave a meal already planning your return??? This place is legit… Best beef I’ve had since we were in Kobe… Han no Daidokoro is five stars without trying to be trendy… I went for the Miyazaki chef’s cuts… (highly recommended) Rich, buttery, perfectly greedy… Also served with some top shelf wasabi… Started with the kim chee trio… (the ideal opener) Bright, complex, and dialed in… Impeccable A5 wagyu…. (Staff that anticipates instead of reacts) You can taste the intention in every cut… If you’re going to go big…. This is where you do it… Mahalo you guys 😎🤙

Great experience celebrating a friends milestone birthday. Came here on a Wednesday night and wasn’t too busy. Waiter was super friendly and helpful. We opted to splurge and do the coursed meal, the Miyazaki at $150pp. Everything was delicious and many of the courses were first time for us. The waiter helped grill most of them and helped us understand the different cuts. Ended the meal with not only the sorbet but with a nice cheesecake slice! Would love to come back but not for a regular meal, it needs to be for a special occasion!!

We ordered the Miyazaki beef chef's cut and it was not tasty at all, only greasy and some pieces were even smelley. Very different from the beef we had in Japan e.g. Jojoen. Bibimbap was good though.

In the 3 years we spent on island, Han no Daidokoro was our go to spot for celebrations and just to treat ourselves. I have told everyone I worked with that this is the place to go for wagyu and it’s worth the money. EVERY ITEM IS AMAZING! Down to the fresh wasabi, which I could literally eat by the spoonful. The best wagyu, service, and atmosphere! Our last dinner on Oahu was spent here. We let our server (I wish I could remember his name) know how often we had been here and how much we love it, and then they brought us a complimentary dessert with a sparkler to thank us! It was such a nice end to our meal and our time on the island! If we ever go back to Oahu, Han no Daidokoro will be a must visit spot! We miss it dearly!

This is the first time I’ve had a server who was so kind and attentive. His name is Sean, and he took care of our table in an incredibly professional way. We ordered the $125 PP, and he looked after us perfectly from start to finish. I rarely write such detailed reviews, but we had such an enjoyable and delicious dinner that I just had to. The quality of the meat was excellent and absolutely delicious. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and will be coming back for sure. The food was amazing, and our server was incredibly friendly. Thank you so much!

Authentic Japanese yakiniku restaurant. The menu is less americanized comparing to a few other places I’ve been. The miyazaki set menu worths it. I thought it would be a bunch of tiny samplers like in Japan but I walked out very full. The quality of the meat is probably the best I’ve ever had in the US and on par with what I had in Japan. The non-yakiniku items in the set menu are surprisingly good as well. We love the salad, kimchi (has some real spiciness) and the matcha ice cream. Each course was served to the table quickly and the best way of cooking was explained. Our server cooked the sukiyaki beef for us. Our dietary preferences were respected and they did substitutions to make the meal more enjoyable to us. The only thing we don’t like about the experience was the smoke from the grilling, which irritates the eyes badly. I have seen many other BBQ restaurants to have this issue, though. They just need more powerful vents.
