Habibi Tasty
About
A Middle Eastern Escape in the Heart of Honolulu
Stepping into Habibi Tasty feels like a sudden departure from the tropical humidity of Oʻahu. Located within a bustling pocket of Honolulu, this spot ditches the tiki-torch aesthetic for the warm, aromatic embrace of za'atar and roasting lamb. The space is modest and utilitarian, designed for people who prioritize a heavy, spice-laden lunch over polished white tablecloths.
Signature Bites and Bold Flavors
The kitchen leans into traditional Mediterranean preparation. Their shawarma is the main draw, sliced fresh from a rotating spit that perfumes the air with cumin, garlic, and turmeric. Expect portions that border on overwhelming; the plates are piled high with fluffy yellow rice, crisp salads, and thick dollops of creamy, tart labneh. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, the falafel is a must—crunchy on the outside with a vibrant, herb-packed green interior that stays consistent every single visit.
The Local Experience
This is a fast-casual operation, best suited for a quick weekday lunch or a grab-and-go meal before hitting the beach. While the seating area is efficient, it can get quite loud when the lunch rush hits, so don't expect a quiet library atmosphere. Be prepared for a minor logistical quirk: parking in this specific slice of the city can be a game of patience, but the smell of fresh, warm pita bread drifting out the door usually makes the search worth the effort.

Update: they open their new location and it is nice. They have good menu for now but they will expand it after a time according to the owner. The food as before when they had the food truck, delicious and fresh and 💯 authentic food. Give it a try and support the local people. The food here is nice and tastes good. It is a food truck with open seating area in Waikiki. The shawarma sandwich and kebabs were delicious and made freshly. Hummus and other sauces were fresh for sure since I am from middle east and I can tell the difference. In my opinion, the prices are too high and they should consider some adjustments to grab more customers and to grow bigger 👍🏼. The customer service is amazing and on point. I recommend this place for middleeast food in Waikiki.

Wow! We got the Habibi Mix. $125 and worth it. Lamb chops were amazing. Cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection! Sheesh was great. Kabobs could’ve used a little more love with the seasoning/marinade. The rice was nice and fragrant, pita made there in front of you and came out nice and hot. Garlic sauce is made in house and is to die for, get extra. Came with a nice salad which pair well with the rest of the meats. Definitely going again. This time the only thing we won’t get is the kabobs. I’ve already been recommending this spot to others and we just went the other day. Great service and food 💕

We were excited to have another place to go to featuring middle eastern cuisine. We got there at opening time as it's first come first serve for seating. Smart move because it definitely was getting crowded as we left. Very friendly and attentive which was good, we ordered in a timely manner and chatted with the owner after she took our order. Come to find out they had a food truck prior to opening an actual store front, we could definitely tell there are some growing pains with this transition the kitchen seemed to get a little in the weeds fast but anything we lacked or they forgot they made it up to us no problem. The food was good and tasty and it's nice to know the meet is cooked outside on a grill, only problem I had was was asked how I wanted my meat cooked as I'd prefer my lamb to be med rare and it was cooked well. Really other than that no complaints at all tasty and fair and we'd go back again. One other small thing no water was offered with our meal.
